Introducing Danish, one of the few male students at Mauve who is a nursing undergraduate and budding musician.

M: When did you begin pole dancing?
D: I started pole dancing in August 2022!

M: What are 3 words you’ll use to describe pole dancing?
D: Intense, Thrilling and Insanely Fun!!

M: What’s your favorite trick so far?
D: My favourite is the Pole-Sit-Drop and Butterfly!

M: Do you prefer a tricks or chorey class?
D: I prefer tricks class because I can take my time doing the combos and wipe my hands off in between instead of sliding everywhere during a chorey class!

M: What’s your biggest achievement since you started pole dancing?
D: I can now complete full combos without sliding off halfway through or dying from pain ;)

M: What would you tell a fellow male who wants to try pole dancing?
D: Just go for it! The community is so open and welcoming and Mauve creates a safe space for you to try out something new and cool with friends that you bring along with or you make along the way. Plus you kinda get to flex to people that you can do cool pole dance tricks!

M: Why do you love to pole dance?
D: It pushes me to improve my physical strength and flexibility in a really fun way and it has helped improve my confidence in a lot of aspects like dancing and body image. I also get to do it with some of the nicest people :D

M: Lastly, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Outside of pole dance, I am a nursing student that likes to sing and make music for fun in his free time. You can check out my stuffs on spotify (& ish) and ig ( ) (yes shameless promo HAHAH).

This national day, let us introduce Emily in Singapore.

An engineer by day and entrepreneur by night, Emily has been running an M&E consultancy firm for nine years and is recently a proud owner of a local cafe (.by.css). In the midst of her busy schedule, Emily still finds time to pole dance and has been actively doing so for the past nearly one and a half years.

Her tenacity and drive is the epitome of the Singapore Spirit and she is a true Singaporean in every sense of the word— always pursuing bigger dreams and never giving up in the face of adversity, both in her work and in her pole dancing journey.

M: When did you begin pole dancing?
E: Late 2021. I was encouraged by a friend to try pole dancing and have never looked back since.

M: What are 3 words you’ll use to describe pole dancing?
E: Strength, confidence and challenging

M: What’s your favorite trick so far?(picture!!)
E: Inside leg hang

M: Do you prefer heels or lyrical/contemp chorey?
E: Both! They are different and exhilarating in their own ways.

M: What’s your biggest achievement since you started pole dancing?
E: I have gained strength physically, increased my flexibility and got to know many amazing pole instructors and friends who are very encouraging and always ready to spot me in class. Not only do we dance together, we also share sweet treats with each other.

M: What would you tell a friend who wants to try pole dancing?
E: It is never too late and you are never too old to start. The more you do, the better you’ll get.

M: Why do you love to pole dance?
E: Being able to do the tricks and dance an entire choreography fills me with adrenaline. At Mauve, you will never feel left out or behind because the instructors always give options and regressions best suited to our abilities.
