With Christmas having just happened over the weekend, it's safe to say that we're all slowly winding down and mentally preparing for what the new year would bring. Read on for our tenor Nicholas' reflection on peace, and how this sense of peace could perhaps be a constant in our daily lives:
"As Christians, we often pray for peace โ for peace in the world, for peace in our families, and for peace in our daily lives. Every mass we offer each other the sign of peace. Indeed, we refer to Jesus as the โPrince of Peaceโ. But what is this peace we refer to? Christian peace is not just an absence of violence, but also refers to wholeness, harmony, and tranquillity. Perhaps we may think that achieving such peace is difficult, especially given our hectic, often chaotic daily lives here in Singapore. As a university student myself, with all its associated academic stresses, I find that peace is often far from me as I rush to meet deadlines and prepare for exams. However, in this time of advent, as we reflect on the meaning of peace, I realise that just as how we find Jesus in ourselves, true Christian peace must come from within. Through prayer and reflections in our daily lives, perhaps we can be able to find peace in even the little things that we do, and in doing so be able to bring peace to other people as well."
