Another sold-out Out and Up! ✨

Vol. 2 featured .isnotnice and .lines giving us 3 different sets, reflecting on 3 different scales of space and community in 3 very unique styles, each pushing the boundaries of Spoken Word! We thank them for their hard work and dedication to their performances and to themselves.

Thank you to all our audiences and volunteers for making the evening one to remember. Out and Up is independently produced, and sustainably financed with ticket sales from the year before. Your support for this craft and the artists are what keeps us going and helps us keep art making financially viable. Please continue to follow these artists and us for more great programming.

LESS THAN FIVE TICKETS LEFT! Eunice Sng is a two-time winner of the National Poetry Competition. By day, she works as a media professional. By night, she studies the Russian language in hopes of moving to a post-Soviet republic, learns about witchcraft and lurks in the local underground music scene.

Cara Ow is a body most regularly occupied by poetry. Unable to fully express themselves in their dying creole mother tongue, Cara’s experimental works resort to a haphazard polylingualism to explore ideas of miscommunication and playful creation.

Runner-up of the 2021 Hawker Prize, Cara placed 3rd with their team in the Grand Poetry Tournament, amongst other appearances.

Presenting our lineup for Out & Up vol. 2! Lillian Lai is a person who loves poetry. From age 14 in , to 19 in , to the 23-year-old travelling between both today, she has never stopped seeking spoken word stages. For Lillian, poetry passes from person to person—and settles in the heart.

Congratulations for winning Outspoken: May the Best Words Win at last night!

It was our first ever team battle, with , and .chia of Team GoJ.E.K. (Joses-Esme-Kim) up against Team CryS.E.S. (Steph-Elizabeth-Sy), trading blows over AI, the haze, fish soup and more.

After a close fight, Team CryS.E.S. won, with Steph clinching the individual trophy based on audience cheers.

Shoutout to for a spellbinding improvised poem during the intermission, as well as new, thought-provoking material!

We opened the call, and you answered—thank you! We are excited to announce the lineup of Out and Up vol. 2: .lines, .isnotnice and !

Over the next few months we will work closely with Lillian, Eunice and Cara as they each craft their own 20-minute solo performance, culminating in a triple-bill showcase.

* it’s not a writing programme, it’s a performance programme. We’re helping you more with the spoken part of spoken word
* it involves a manageable level of commitment, i.e. discussions and rehearsals to be determined at mutual convenience, spread out over Jan to May 2026
