CXL X PETER WASZECKI“FEATHERWEIGHT”
In the Greek mythology the siren is depicted as a hybrid being: half bird, half woman, an anthropomorphic head connected to an animalistic body, an enchanting voice emanating from a feathery creature. “Featherweight” is a musical exploration of the dichotomy of the siren. It is the electronic musician’s pursuit of the beautiful and ugly tones, the floating and falling rhythms, the ephemeral and permanent sounds. This duality is also embodied within the instrumentation of the piece, where no-input mixers are played alongside a modular synthesizer. But rather than emphasising their incoherencies, the opposites become aurally interwoven into dissonant harmonies, noisy melodies, and growling voices.
“cxl”, (pronounced as collide) is a multi disciplinary artist delving into both sonic and visual elements He iswell known for innovating an extension beyond “No-Input Mixing”, a technique originally conceived byToshimaru Nakamura, by utilizing granular synthesis, samplers, and modified audio mixers to achieve his soundscapes. As a visual artist as well, he has also done extensive AI based work to generate hisvisuals, which has given him the opportunity to collaborate with notable organisations and installations locally and overseas.Feel Nothing, Embrace Everything.
