For the past 2 years, Grace Leong, the multi-disciplinary artist / theatre lecturer from NAFA / fellow penagite, has been inviting us to go back to school to share our working experience after graduation. It has not happened due to the pandemic until this year.

Presenting ourselves on stage is a strange experience as we have been so used to hiding behind the camera. Nevertheless, it was a great afternoon to come back in school and share what we have learned outside the school with all the young people.

On top of that, it feels like a mini review internally for this journey in the past few years and a revisit of memories during our days at NAFA.

It was a magical experience meeting Mr Sim, who is a distinguished artist in his early 80s, graduated from NAFA in 1961. Friendly, cheerful and young at heart.

During our first meet, Mr Sim gifted us 2 of his creative calligraphy artworks. One of them is particularly meaningful, it is called “無心” in Traditional Chinese. It is a big heart of forgiveness - to forgive all unintentional mistakes.

After the filming for NAFA Huichun 2022 with Mr Sim, we are honoured to have him creating a logo for duopicture. Mr Sim is such a kind soul, he has created 2 versions and both have their uniqueness.

Amidst the excitement, Mr Sim's logo artwork has led to the start of duopicture. We learned to trust the beauty of nature - let thing happen naturally, never force it.

《雙人映畫》正式開張🍊

Friends from high school back in Penang, Kian Ping and Jeff, collectively referred to as the duo, decided to quit their corporate jobs to embark on the journey of filmmaking in 2013. They went to Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and earned a ticket to the media industry when their graduation film caught the attention of juries in Crowbar Awards 2016 where they bagged some awards including the Best of Film Category Award.

Since then, the duo began to direct and shoot commercials and corporate films. From scriptwriting to directing and shooting on set, the duo always work as a team, constantly pushing the boundaries to translate their imagination into crafts. Their past experience as freelance photographer during their corporate years allows them to strike a balance between telling compelling stories and crafting cinematic visuals.

With combined creative minds, they are looking forward to working in any project where they can continue to explore new ideas and making them into beautiful crafts.
