We are excited to announce the premiere of Tampines Boy this September — a part-theatre, part-tour promenade experience presented by Our Tampines Hub as part of the National Arts Council Nodes Network.

Created by Shaifulbahri Mohamad, this experience takes audiences from Our Tampines Hub to different spots around the Tampines Central estate, where he has lived, worked and played over the last 30 or so years. Tampines Boy reflects on the impermanence of people, memories and things in the ephemeral spaces in a place like Singapore.

First presented as Last of Their Generation by Bhumi Collective at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017, the work finally finds its way to Singapore after a long journey, moving from the theatre space and into an estate.

Tampines Boy runs from 8-17 September 2023. Tickets are free but registration with a refundable deposit is required. Limited spaces are available for each show.

We feel really blessed to have been able to host VOU who were visiting Singapore en route home to Fiji, with the support of P7:1SMA.

VOU (meaning new in Fijian) uses live music and dance to blend old and new, traditions and contemporary.

Some of our friends from the arts community joined us in welcoming VOU. The afternoon was spent getting to know each other and then VOU shared snippets from their work, Fiji Untold. It was a really passionate and exciting showcase. After which, everyone became fast friends with new connections and friendships forged. It was a brief afternoon but it will be one that has enriched everyone so much! May our paths cross again!

Bahri & Co welcomes friends from all over the world to visit Singapore. Let’s bring all of us closer together!

The time is right, strong is the gale
Sound the call, today we head to sea,
Here be our logo for all to see

The Bahri & Co logo brings together the ‘sea’ and ‘port’ in shades of the ocean, elements within our vision. The logo takes after the patterns of waves inspired by art from the region. They are enclosed within the topography of the mouth of the Singapore River circa 1825, during its early use as a port.

Just as Singapore has always been a meeting point for merchants and travellers alike, Bahri & Co aims to be a port of call for people in the arts to encounter, exchange with and engage each other.

Hello! We are Bahri & Co!

We’re still working on the things we have to work on as a new outfit but we wanted to start the new year sharing the good news regarding this new endeavour! Bahri & Co is a producing company working in the contemporary, the traditional and everything-in-between of performance. Drawing from Arabic, Bahri means belonging to/(of) the sea.

Based in Singapore and led by Shaifulbahri Mohamad, we are a port of call for artists, producers and all types of arts workers to encounter, exchange with and engage each other. We want the people we support and their ideas to make waves in the arts world through the development, creation and distribution of new stories and projects.
