My 4th Oil Painting.
I was asked to paint for a gift for her Bestfriend's Birthday. It was my first time to paint for someone I don't personally know and it was amazing!

Here’s the piece I have just finished today 💖
A lovely lady with a genuine love for 🐴. I chose a blue background for her calming and charming smile.

I am not a big fan of realism so I decided to paint it my way. Still, to me, this piece is quite far from perfect (from how I imagined it). But I have juiced out every ounce of patience just to get to this. Of course, more things can be improved but i am happier now. I take pride for all the lessons I’ve learned during the process and will definitely do better next time. With all the insightful brush strokes plus seeing the client happy with the result is such milestone!
Thank you Aikosh for your trust and kind support to my artworks. I’m very glad to meet you tonight! You are such a sweetie! I hope your bestfriend will love it just as you do. 💖

How are you coping with Covid-19 situation in your place so far?

For me, with the recent health outbreak here in Singapore, it wasn’t so hard to keep myself indoors after all. I have been painting for a commission the past 4 weekends and this is the smallest canvas I’ve ever painted on just yet. 🎨😀

It is a 9” x 10” stretched canvas in oval shape. Painting in progress. Will keep you posted as soon as it’s done. Keep safe everyone!💖

And now, time to let go of the biggest piece i’ve ever painted (so far). May you bring happiness to the newly-wed couple this weekend 👰🤵🏼

What do you think of my 3rd painted piece?

Exploring portraits!

Honestly, I am not very happy with the background. Also, I'm not very sure if the flowers made sense. I just realized that i made mom’s head and everything too low thus i just wanted to fill in that space above her head. I hope it worked better. 😔

Anyways, Happy Birthday Mom! She looks happy though!
[Super late post]

Two years ago, 2018, I went to an Art Studio here in Singapore. I finally decided to drag myself there so I can get motivated with like-minded people (I usually procrastinate when i do things on my own. I have been planning to do this since I first came to Singapore on 2012).

At the studio, the teacher asked, “what do i want to paint for a start?”. I was given with a couple of landscape photos but only this has caught my eye. The teacher told me that i should pick another choice coz this is too challenging for a start especially there are 5 heads involved. I told him, “I agree with you. But I still want to paint this”.

True enough, I was struggling at the beginning. I am not sure what was the problem. Was it me who cannot listen to the teacher? or the teacher wasn't good enough? or the teacher was purposely dragging my time? All I know was I'm paying every hour at the studio and Im just like wasting every seconds figuring things out. So packed my things up, brought my tools and the canvas home and painted on my own. And it was much much much better!

So, I'm calling this piece done. My very first oil painting. Many were fascinated by its beautiful uniqueness. ❤ The processs wasnt easy but it’s a rewarding feeling after all. The 5 ladies right here are sort of giving me some sense of women empowerment. I enjoyed mixing colors for the variations of skin tones.

I hope it's a good start. This not for Sale. Not my original art, YET. Im sure this is pretty familiar to many. This is a homage to Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. Read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Demoiselles_d%27Avignon

My first attempt in oil painting is Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.
I was so captivated by the vibrant skin tones. It is indeed a big challenge yet a perfect way to practice "color mixing and blending" (if that's the proper way to call it). 🎨
