What happens when the music you once loved starts to feel empty?”

In this reel, Nelson Tan opens up about what it was like being on autopilot as a musician going through the motions, surviving the uncertainty of COVID as an artist, and feeling lifeless even while doing what he once loved.

He also reflects on the seasoned musicians from back in the day, playing music/ songs with a heartbeat.

This is a raw glimpse into the emotional reality behind the stage, the burnout, the silence, and the search for meaning again.

Some of the strongest traits we carry are the ones shaped by where we come from.

In this reel, Nelson Tan / shares how the strength to keep striving for what he wants was something deeply rooted in him by his parents. Their values, sacrifices, and unwavering mindset became the foundation that shaped his resilience — both in life and in his creative journey.

It’s a powerful reminder that behind every dream is often a lesson passed down, and behind every achievement is the strength built through the people who raised us.

This is just one meaningful moment from our conversation with Nelson — a story filled with honesty, reflection, and the journey behind the person he is today.

Why does success still feel empty for so many creatives?

You work hard, chase opportunities, hit milestones, and seek validation — but sometimes, even after achieving the things you once dreamed of, it still doesn’t feel like enough.

In this short reel, we sit down with Nelson Tan — musician, author of Compass and Grit, and creative soul — to talk about the hidden struggle behind the creative journey: the pressure to be seen, the constant need for validation, and the emotional toll that the COVID season had on creatives trying to hold on to purpose.

Nelson also shares one of his proudest moments — having his song featured on an exclusive Spotify playlist — and what that achievement really meant after the battles no one saw behind the scenes.

This clip is just a glimpse into a deeper conversation about identity, purpose, and what it really takes to keep creating when life gets hard.

We sat down with Nelson Tan recently.
On paper, his life looked like something many would want—music, experience, recognition.
But the conversation went somewhere deeper.
He spoke about:
– Living on autopilot
– Relationships falling apart
– Feeling like a fraud in your own life
And how all of that became Compass and Grit.
This episode is different.
It’s honest.

This episode is sponsored by Aidah Sani’s Farmasi.
It’s not just another beauty brand you randomly see online. It actually comes from a pharmaceutical background, so there’s a stronger focus on quality, formulation, and everyday usability.
They carry a full range of products — from makeup, skincare, haircare, all the way to personal care items. And the whole idea is simple: making self-care accessible without making it expensive.

Raya is fast approaching and the good times are rolling. But in the midst of celebration, let’s never forget the people we love and cherish.

Where some of us are surrounded by family and warmth, somewhere else someone might not be as lucky.

Then came — a cheerful, bright young man who stepped up, picked up the receiver, and without missing a heartbeat shared what he misses most about the first day of Ramadan.

Sometimes the smallest memories are the ones that mean the most.

We truly appreciate every confession shared with us. It was never in our hearts to judge — only to listen. In a world that can sometimes feel heavy and cruel, sometimes all a person needs is someone willing to hear them.

Harry received a message from , a home-based entrepreneur who crafts beautiful beads for bracelets, charms and sampul raya. She wanted to visit the booth, but between running a business, caring for her family, and the distance, it wasn’t possible.
So she asked if she could send her confession through WhatsApp.

She spoke proudly about her day-to-day life, but also about missing her late father deeply. Life moves through phases, and sometimes we lose the people we love along the way. Yet the love they gave us stays — and for her, those memories continue to give strength through life’s daily challenges.

She shared that her children never had the chance to meet their grandfather, a man who loved her dearly. And that love is something she still carries with her today.
Thank you, , for trusting us with your story.
