Selection and Feeding is only half the equation! 🦐

After every heavy feeding session, we perform a huge water change immediately. 💧

Why?

Because we feed heavily and keep multiple fish in each tank. The faster we remove waste and ammonia, the better it is for the fish.

But that’s not all.

Fresh, clean water helps improve metabolism and digestion. A fish that digests well is able to make better use of the food it eats, which supports growth and development. 💪

Good water quality also helps fish stay comfortable, reduces stress, and supports better finnage development over time. ✨

So for us, it’s simple:

Feeding time PART 1

The Grand Standard is not just about how well we select a fish. How we read, condition, and care for it is also a big part of our daily practice.

For our young juveniles, regardless of price range, every fish receives the same GRAND STANDARD CARE with us, 365 days a year. 🙏

When it comes to feeding, we don’t skimp. We use fresh ingredients and feed properly. Our juveniles are fed frozen ghost shrimp as their main diet until they are full, and we finish off with chunks of market prawn to give them that extra fullness. 🦐

Why? Because we want our fish to have good mass and presentation when you come down to choose. Nobody likes to see a skinny sausage swimming around right? 😂

A good fish starts with good care, good feeding, and consistency every single day. 💪

This is the kind of fish we like to select.

At just 45cm, focus on the body shape, spoon head, frame, and overall presence. The colour will continue to develop with time, but the fundamentals are already there.

Many people focus on how red a fish is or how fast it becomes red. However, there are many different shades and types of red, and every fish develops differently they environment and grooming factors .

For us, we focus on the specifications first when it comes to selecting a premium juvenile or material to groom.
