I am obsessed with concrete at the moment. Even though my dining table looks like a construction site! 🙈🙈 I have to say that having a super understanding family helps.

This is a mini experiment on a small canvas. Concrete, acrylic ink on 20 x 20cm canvas.
Not sure what to title it, probably will ask my son.

HAPPY 60TH SINGAPORE!

This is an incomplete/ rough watercolour sketch of the very recognisable Singapore skyline i had done last year. It's incomplete and kinda imperfect, but I like it like this.

The more I travel, the more Singapore feels like home. When I come back, I feel a sense of relief, comfort, familiarity, and ease that one gets when one is home.

After all, I have built a life here in the last 2 decades or so. I met my husband here. We brought our canine child (a true blue Singapore Special! Lol) here. Our human child was born here.

The most important bits of my life were found and built here. I can't imagine calling anywhere else home!

So i tried the Emulsion lift on canvas, and I am loving how it turned out!

I had an acrylic painting that I had done sometime back in a workshop organised by and .

I took some close-up pictures of my paintings (convergence series) and created emulsion lift films from them and put them on the paintings. The details are quite beautiful and the possibilities are limitless! I am super excited about this.. I am going to create more such artworks.

Emulsion Lift mini project with my son.

I couldn't create any art during my recent trip to Mumbai as we were travelling across Bombay and the Westen Ghats, which are a gorgeous green during monsoons. But I was looking for ideas and vides on YouTube for mini projects that I can do with my sons after we were back. School doesn't start till next week and I wanted to do something fun that would keep him away from the screen for sometime!

I came across Polaroid Emulsion lift videos which were very interesting but we don't have a polaroid, we have an instax. Different technology so we couldn't have used the technique. Also, i wanted to find something that gave me flexibility of dimension. Then I found this YouTube video on how to have the same effect as polaroid emulsion lift with any photograph of any size.

We have been doing Emulsion lifts since we are back. On all his playdates as well and kids are loving it! This one is our attempt today!

I want to replicate this on my paintings. Will keep you posted as to how it turns out.

When moved to Bomaby for work 8 months ago, he carried along these 2 drawings/ sketches I made of our home in Singapore along with a family photograph and a drawing of our canine kid done by the incredible Wallace N Fion. Some things to remind him of home and family. He carried a bit of home along with him. It has been challenging in parts, especially for him, to be away from family, but I think these artworks and photograph make him happy when he looks at them.

The last slide is a drawing of Lara done by the very very talented . It's one of my favourite artworks ever!

“Convergence 3” is part of a series of abstract paintings where red, black, yellow, and white come together through dynamic flows of colour and texture. The surface has a layered, tactile quality that guides the eye along the movement of the paint. Red streaks intersect with deep blacks, while areas of yellow add contrast and brightness, softened by touches of white. The composition appears both free and intentional, balancing energy with structure. It represents a meeting point of different visual elements, where colour and texture work together to create a sense of motion, interaction, and subtle complexity without relying on clear forms or figures.
