Law IV 2018: Valediction

The long-awaited YouTube premiere of Valediction has finally arrived!

For those of you who missed out on catching the action from the 23rd-25th of February, there's no longer any need to feel FOMO (you can listen to it instead!) because you can now watch the entire show in glorious 1080P HD!

Unfortunately the standing ovations and roaring laughter after every scene were cut for time purposes, but feel free to re-enact that in the privacy of your own room/level 2 of Block B/home cinema.

In our final Committee photoshoot, the Directors of Law IV 2018 – Natasha and Joshua – are pleased to welcome you to the Opening Night of Valediction.

Our Directors are the unifying force behind the creative vision of Valediction, pulling together the acting, music, choreography, set design, and costuming of our production.

They’ve stood by us through our long nights (and early mornings) and they’ve run through lines with our cast so many times that Joshua is capable of putting on a one-man performance of Valediction by himself.

This evening, join them for a night of music, dance and social media drama!

In our penultimate Committee photoshoot, we're very proud to introduce our Sets Team and Stage Crew, led by Janna "No Facebook" Wong and Joelle "Not in Picture" Fang respectively.

Our Sets team members are the unsung, unseen heroes designing, drilling, sawing, hammering, hot-gluing, and painting our precision-constructed, beautifully made wall/window/fake door/functional door panels that bring the world of Valediction into sharp relief.

Our Stage team (which is basically the exact same group of people) is behind the smooth transitions and coordination of the many large, moving objects on stage, seamlessly taking us between classrooms, HDB corridors, dragon-dominated playgrounds, and amphitheatres.

Come see them build stuff (two months ago) and move things (performance nights)!

In the seventh of our Committee photoshoots, we're pleased to introduce our Beneficiaries and Sponsorship Committees, led by and consisting entirely of Cheryl and Walter respectively!

Cheryl is a former President of the Pro Bono Group and had initiated several projects focusing on migrant workers under her administration. As Beneficiaries Head, she has worked diligently with Hagar Singapore to organise a post-Law IV day of singing and dancing with the beneficiaries.

Walter is a former President of the Yale-NUS International Relations and Political Association—an accomplished entrepreneur, debate coach, and Yale-NUS/Law double degree student, he has helped source for sponsors and corporate donors to keep the wheels of the Law IV production machine running smoothly.

Former Presidents tend to charge exorbitant speaking fees but you'll get to interact with Walter and Cheryl FOR FREE when you come on down to our performance nights!

In the sixth of our Committee photoshoots, we're pleased to introduce you to our Makeup and Costumes team!

Led by Venessa, our Makeup and Costume team are responsible for the sweet threads and makeup artistry you've seen in our promotional materials and onstage!

Colours play an important role in the world of Valediction, and convey hints as to each character's allegiances and aspirations. Just as in real life, our character's outfits represent the persona they project to the world.

Over painstakingly created colour palettes and mood boards, the costumes and makeup of Law IV 2018 were selected, sourced and outfitted.

Led by Hao Zhi and guest-starring international man of mystery Ying Yao, our Publicity Team is responsible for the design, photography and cinematography (thanks Jian Yang!) you have come to expect from Valediction promotional materials.

In the fourth of our Committee photoshoots, we're pleased to introduce our Production Committee consisting of David (who has the pleasure of writing about himself in the third person), Chong We (who does not) and Gladys (who probably doesn't care either way).

The Production Committee oversees the Production Sub-Committees, as well as directly handling matters pertaining to the administration, logistics, finances of Law IV 2018.

These varied duties include chasing people for money, being chased for money, supplying extra manpower to the sets and stage teams, buying pizza, keeping the budget in check from an excess of pizza, and working with the Deanery.

All three of them will have mixed feelings about Law IV drawing to a close, mostly because it means David no longer has an excuse to ask Gladys for her tutorials.
