For lot of Africans, makossa music was a great alternative to all the noises coming from musics like Soukouss etc. Makossa music had something different, something more organized, more structured with lot more chorus, guitar bass, brass etc.
Makossa typical guitar have been used a lot by various famous artists(like Juan Luis Guerra of Dominican Republic...) or groups(like Kassav of French Caribbean...). Some countries's music(like in Ivory Coast, Benin or Equatorial Guinea...) are strongly influenced by makossa. Let's hope that the new makossa generation will one day take back the makossa to level it was in the past.
Our prayers goes also to all those great Makossa Artists who passed away. May God receive them in Paradise.
Amen.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Obs: This work about makossa music have been done with love and lot of research.
