Han kommer att inviga festivalen med två av sin

a senaste dokumentärer Kvinna helt och hållet kvinna och En städerskas betungande minnen. En ung och begåvad generation av franska regissörer har tolkat olika samhällsteman som berör migration, feminism och jämställdhet. Ni kommer även att kunna se två mästerverk av en av de stora mästarna från den Nya Vågen JEAN-LUC GODARD: Föraktet och Tokstollen

Dani Kouyaté, recently recognized by the African Film Academy, will launch the 2017 Uppsala Franska Film Festival with his latest documentaries : Women Fully Womens and Bulky Memories of a Housekeeper and the hilarious Ouaga Saga. Then in the feature and short films selected for the festival, the social issues of Migration, Disability and Racism are explored by a new generation of talented French directors. Finally, enjoy Jean-Luc Godard's masterpieces in « the » cinema of Bergman's childhood : Contempt and Pierrot le Fou.

Pleins feux sur Dani Kouyaté et le cinéma français ! Le réalisateur burkinabé Dani Kouyaté primé par l'Académie du Film Africain à Lagos, au Nigeria ouvrira l’Uppsala Franska Film Festival 2017 avec ses derniers documentaires, Femmes entièrement femmes et Souvenirs encombrants d’une femme de ménage ainsi que son hilarant Ouaga Saga. Migration, handicap, racisme, autant de thèmes de société que traitent avec talent la nouvelle génération de réalisateurs français dans les longs et courts métrages sélectionnés pour le festival. Enfin, dans cette salle mythique de l’enfance de Bergman, vous pourrez également savourez Le Mépris et Pierrot le Fou, sublimes chefs-d’œuvre de Jean-Luc Godard.

The Uppsala French Film Festival was founded in 2011 as the result of a double celebration: the 120th anniversary of the Alliance française d’Upsal and the 100th anniversary of the art-house cinema Fyrisbiografen. Our main mission is to promote the awareness of French and French-speaking cinema, including both, classic as well as recent films. Our festival was supported from the start by the French institute in Sweden. Since 2014, we also receive economic support from Uppsala’s municipality and region. The Uppsala French Film Festival now takes place during 4 days at the Slottsbiografen–the legendary movie theatre of Bergman’s childhood. This year, our ever-growing commitment to promote film education among school children translates into the organisation of some free screenings that will give the opportunity to more classes from Uppsala to come, watch and reflect on how they can relate to French-speaking cinema. Going beyond the screenings themselves, the Uppsala French Film Festival strives to foster interactions with the public, both on- and off-site. The former take place after the screenings when the public can meet some of our film director guests(2017 - Dani Kouyaté, 2019 - Pierre Jolivet et Yuliya Antonova) or professionals from local organizations to discuss the films themselves as well as their themes.

As for the latter, a presentation entitled “La parole centrifuge ou l’usage de la langue parlée dans le cinéma français”, organized in collaboration with the Alliance française d’Upsal in 2018, was the opportunity to analyse films in a new way with the public. The guest of honour of 2019’s edition, thanks to a renewed collaboration with Institut français de Suède and the Franska Filmfestivalen of Stockholm, will also meet the spectators of the cinema Capitol Bio, in Stockholm.

Moreover, the introduction of English in our communication, the creation of a page and the implementation of discounts for students in 2017 has allowed us to attract a larger audience among foreign students. In 8 editions, the Uppsala French Film Festival has shown over 63 new releases, and welcomed over one and a half thousand spectators.
