The Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra – 47 world-class professional musicians in the heart of Umeå. Today, around 20,000 people annually attend our concerts.

The Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra, with 47 world-class professional musicians, expertly performs both newly composed and classical symphonic music, and is visited every year by soloists and conductors from all over the world. What is now the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra originally started as a military brass band formed as early as 1841, but it acquired its current form and formal status as a symphony orchestra in 1991. The symphony orchestra has been recognized and awarded several times, such as with the Grammis. For the recording of the album "Urban Concertos," featuring music by the American composer David Chesky, the orchestra has been nominated for a Grammy Award. Welcome to the wonderful world of music with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra, Umeå's most appreciated cultural phenomenon - we dare to promise that.
