Den 24 oktober planerar jag att återigen anordna Halloween på Storgatan!

Och jag behöver er hjälp ❤️
I år planerar jag att ha två fiskdammar och en häxa på stationen, precis som förra året 🧹🧙‍♀️
Det kommer att behövas väldigt mycket godis! 🍬

We would like to introduce you to the amazing team behind our festival – the people who made the very first festival celebrating the cultural connection between Scandinavia and Kyivan Rus’ possible.

We would like to begin with the wonderful Veronica Björkman, a head of the Birka Vikingastaden.
Veronica has dedicated huge amount of work to preserving and promoting the history of Scandinavia, and we are truly honored to have her as a co-organizer of our festival. Together, we are bringing this unique event to life.

It feels a little strange introducing yourself… 😅

But let’s get to know each other! 🥰

My name is Polina Ivanova and I am the founder and lead organizer of Eastern Winds at Birka.

I am also the owner of Polar Events Sweden and Polaræ Historical Tailoring, an event organizer, and someone with a deep passion for history.

For me, this project is much more than just a historical festival. As a Ukrainian who spent most of my life in Kyiv, studying its history and the centuries-old connections between Scandinavia and Ukraine, this festival represents an important step toward bringing the people of Ukraine and Sweden closer together during a difficult period in our shared history.

That is why I sincerely hope to see you at our festival!

Amanda has been working on Birka Island for the past five years and is the island’s Volunteer Coordinator. She is also passionate about historical handicrafts and volunteering. A true professional with a huge heart and a genuine love for history, Amanda will be leading and coordinating our entire volunteer team throughout the festival.

✨ We would like to introduce you to the amazing team behind our festival—the people who helped create the very first festival celebrating the cultural connection between Scandinavia and Kyivan Rus’.

Today, we’d like you to meet Christoffer Eklundh! ❤️

Christoffer is a talented artist and graphic designer. History—and the Viking Age in particular—has been a lifelong passion of his since early childhood. Although historical reenactment is a relatively new hobby for him, it didn’t take long before he completely fell in love with it. In his professional life, Christoffer works as a 3D artist in the video game industry. In his free time, you’ll usually find him gaming, reading, crafting, or listening to music. He has a special love for the metal scene, especially black metal.
He also spends a great deal of time drawing and creating art. Much of his work is inspired by Norse mythology and history, which he shares under the name Tales From Utgard.

At Eastern Winds at Birka, Christoffer is responsible for participant relations, managing reenactor applications, answering questions from participants, and supporting the festival’s creative process.

Today, we’d like you to meet Pavel Gorishnyi!

Pavel is a professional actor and stunt performer, as well as the Artistic Director of the historical theatre Wild West. With many years of experience in the world of living history, he has appeared in numerous historical films and has organized a wide variety of historical productions, reenactment events, and educational programs.

At Eastern Winds at Birka, Pavel will lead the Ukrainian🇺🇦 reenactment group.
And yes - even during these difficult times and despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, our festival will be honored to welcome Ukrainian reenactors representing Kyivan Rus’ and Byzantium 👑

It is a great privilege for us to have them with us, and we are looking forward to welcoming our Ukrainian friends to Birka! 🔥
