At Embroidery flow - workshop for beginners you will get guidance on how to start embroidering:

- choosing the materials (we will go over threads, fabrics and needles, how to start and finish off)
&
- testing basic stitches (running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, split stitch)

Our aim is flowing free embroidery - free from strict rules and free from focusing on perfect stitches. During stitching our focus is on the process, getting into the flow and feeling relaxed while embroidering.

This workshop is for total beginners, for embroiderers with previous bad/frustrating experience, and also those who have some experience but want to go over the basic stitches.

I have planned this refreshing hibiscus mocktail for our AW this week - but you never know with Swedish weather! Today for example I felt more like drinking it warm with honey instead of mint ;) So I guess, we'll just have to wait and see how thursday weather turns out to be. Or maybe we decide to pretend it feels like spring and go with a refreshing drink?

In any case, I am inviting you to come co-create this supportive and creative space - for both beginners and experienced embroiderers - where we explore embroidery freed from rules and expectations.We share inspiration and embroidery tips but also share our stories and connect with each other.

P.s. if you're a beginner, you'll get guidance :)

I provide fika/snacks, coffee/tea/drinks together with books & patterns, and embroidery materials and guidance to those who need.

I had a period when I was embroidering every morning, it would help me start the day. I would wake up tired and anxious and embroidering would calm me down, rest me, make me feel ready for the day. But in order to embroider in the morning, on those days, I need to have a planned project and not have to think about the next step (coz I was unable to think and make any decisions).

Last weeks I have been struggling with starting a project for a collective exhibition I am a part of, and it got me stuck between the ideas, and left my mornings without embroidering. Few days ago I started a project to have when I teach stitches and this little vulva-lotus appeared out of nowhere and saved my mornings.
Most days I embroider very little, maybe 20 minutes with the morning coffee and it already has an effect on my mental state. This photo for example is from 2 days ago, when I embroidered one single inside line.

And then during these days, an idea for the big project came to me, probably while embroidering one of those lines.

Embroidery workshop for beginners where you will get guidance on choosing the materials (we will go over threads, fabrics and needles, how to start and finish off) and you will try basic stitches (running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, split stitch). 🪡 EMBROIDERY FLOW - ADVANCED WORKSHOP - Sunday 31/5 - 14:00-17:30

Embroidery workshop for those with some embroidery experience and basic knowledge about threads, needles and some stitches. We will learn different stitches - french knot, chain stitch, feather stitch, blanket stitch, fishbone stitch and maybe some other depending on the group’s previous experience and curiosity (we’ll be a small group so the workshop can have a flexible structure and I can have room to show and assist participants individually)

Free embroidery workshop where we explore the topics of spring (new beginnings, renewal of energy, dreams and plans, creativity) using embroidery as a tool & guided meditation and Tarot cards as inspiration.

Some photos from the first Embroidery AW in the new space on Ringvägen 80. Not everything was fixed but I wanted to have an event coz I had just moved in and loved the feeling of the space.
We had to improvise with lights when it got late which then created an even cosier feeling of the space (and everyone adjusted to the situation). Since then, I brought some good lamps so we’ll have them for next events, but keeping the cosiness :) It’s a space with warm energy and a creative vibe (the others I share the studio with work mostly with film and photography). At the AW it was like it usually is - a mix of beginners and experienced embroiderers and I love this - it contributes to the relaxed atmosphere of curiosity, joy and helping and sharing with each other. I love to see people discover embroidery and approach it in their own special way 🪡❤️

I moved into a collective studio - very warm and creative space with nice welcoming energy.

Combining more techniques, materials, textures brings endless possibilities to explore. Both with what you create and inside yourself. For me it was a bit scary/uncomfortable to do watercolour coz I had no feeling of control about what will happen. With embroidery it goes slow, I can follow what's happening, make changes in the moment, and even take out some stitches and redo them if I really want to. With watercolour I am more insecure of what I can do, which makes it perfect to play with, after I had gotten over the fear part :)

as support and guide, I found fun and joy in it.

We are now doing a workshop together, where she will guide with watercolour and I will guide with embroidery afterword. As usual there is no strict rules or patterns, we provide guidance and inspiration and encourage you to join us in this creativity exploring process :)

How many times have you moved?
My first big move was from one country to another - although it wasn’t me who moved, it was the country that changed. Croatia was a part of Yugoslavia at the time I was born, until I was 10. With my parents we lived in 6 different apartments, then at 20 I moved from Zadar to Zagreb where I lived in 4 different apartments. In 2010 I moved to Stockholm where I still live, now in my 10th apartment here. We moved in in October with a long-lasting contract (getting this felt bigger than getting Swedish citizenship haha), and we have mostly settled although haven’t put up all the family photos yet :)

My first work studio that I rented was for Thai yoga massage, the next 2 were for the embroidery workshops. Soon I am moving into the 4th one :)
Since September last year I have been alone in the Gubbängen studio, which I didn’t exactly love. From May I will be having studio-colleagues again and I am really looking forward to that. Some of them do documentary films (love!), and some I still don’t know who will be (exciting!). The location in any case is Ringvägen, very close to Skanstull and I have a very good feeling about it - it seems creative, relaxed, open and easily reachable. Being close to water is another plus :)

I have experienced a lot of ending of eras, lot of changes - circles closing and opening. And even if I am used to it and am aware of all the positive experiences it has brought me, I am currently looking forward to some stable bases I feel good with and where I find myself more grounded.

EMBROIDER A BOOKMARK is a workshop for you who want a mindful creative pause where you will make a practical reminder for yourself. I will guide you through embroidery and sewing stitches, but also prepare a guided meditation and some creative inspiration. You will turn inwards and feel into what you need in the coming phase of life. You'll be guided to explore ways of expressing this message with words or shapes, that you will stitch onto the fabric that you will then turn into a bookmark.

Workshop is suitable for all levels, we will be a small group and you can get all the help you need with stitching.
This is a therapeutic embroidery workshop - the meaning of your bookmark, thoughts and feelings behind it, are more important than the “artistic quality” or the perfection of the stitches.
We stitch in a relaxing, flowing, supportive atmosphere.

Materials are included for the local workshop.
For the online workshop, you will get instructions of what materials you need to prepare.
