From Sweden With Love reader John Bleasdale has announced that he's signed a contract with The University Press of Kentucky for a new Sean Connery biography titled Self Made Man: the Life of Sean Connery to be published in October 2027.

Self Made Man: the Life of Sean Connery will explore his development of his craft through his unorthodox autodidactic background to international stardom and later Oscar-winning prestige. The book will also explore his impact on the culture and way pay especial attention to the neglected films such as The Molly Maguires (1970) and Five Days Last Summer (1982) which deserve a reevaluation.

The Ian Fleming Foundation , in conjunction with the Aston Martin Owners Club, is hosting an exclusive benefit evening on Friday 31st July 2026 at The Automobile Gallery & Event Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. 12 original James Bond 007 vehicles are currently on display there. For the third consecutive year, Edinburgh International Film Festival is partnering with The Sean Connery Foundation on The Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence.

The ultra-competitive selection of ten brand new feature films presents a panorama of contemporary film and exciting new film making talent. Decided by audience vote, the 50,000 GBP prize aligns the most exciting new filmmakers in the world with the legacy of Scotland’s biggest global star, the original James Bond 007, Sir Sean Connery.

The festival runs from 13th August until 19th August 2026.

From Sweden With Love is happy to report that James Bond's car - a Saab 900 Turbo nicknamed the Silver Beast which featured in the first three James Bond novels by John Gardner (Licence Renewed, For Special Services and Icebreaker) - is back on display at the Saab Car Museum in Trollhättan, Sweden. This time as one of 100 cars in the ongoing The Box exhibition which runs until 30th September 2026.

“It [James Bond's Saab 900 Turbo] is the most sought-after by all 007 connoisseurs,” says Peter Bäckström, curator at the museum. However, he adds that the car is not for sale.

Following George Lazenby's announcement in July 2024 that he's retiring from acting, it turns out that Fatmir Bardhoci's film Mundije (which George shot in September 2023) will be his last. The full version of the film has now been released on YouTube.

The From Sweden With Love team congratulates George to an acting career spanning over five decades. Not bad to have kicked it off by portraying Ian Fleming's James Bond 007, and end it with a role as U.S. President.

Today, Big Finish Productions and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd announced the actors poised to take the lead roles in the audio adaptation of Charlie Higson’s Young Bond novel SilverFin (2005). Isaac Rouse is James Bond alongside Charlotte McBurney as Wilder Lawless in Young Bond: SilverFin, a full-cast audio drama due for release in October 2026.

The Young Bond audition process has been completed. After reviewing over 500 applications, producer Robert Valentine and writer/director Barnaby Edwards have cast the actor to play Young Bond in the upcoming audio drama production of Charlie Higson’s SilverFin (2005) from Big Finish Productions.

From Sweden With Love was recently invited to meet the Young Bond actor, and the actress that plays Wilder Lawless, and we think both are great choices. The names are currently under embargo so we're not at liberty to reveal who it is. But watch this space, exciting things are happening in the world of Young Bond.
