This autumn I found myself wrestling with the color green. Until now, I almost never worked with it. Once I finally dove in, I understood why. Although green feels natural and familiar, something we’re surrounded by every day, working with it in painting is something completely different.
I learned how difficult it actually is: it can fall apart so easily, turn muddy, or become something entirely different from the green we hold in our minds.
But after spending a couple of months with it, getting to know its moods and edges, it has grown on me.

In this painting, I was trying to capture the tension between structure and fluidity, part of my ongoing exploration of space and color.
