Stockholm Early Music Festival is the largest international event for historical music in the Nordic countries and alone in Sweden in presenting repertoire from baroque, renaissance, and medieval times in one festival. SEMF...

. The festival has been held annually in the historical setting of Stockholm’s Old Town since 2002, in the special summer atmosphere of early June. The programme includes lunch, afternoon, and evening concerts, seminars and masterclasses. Stockholm Early Music Festival was founded 2002 by Peter Pontvik. It is organised by the non-profit association Stockholm Early Music Festival (SEMF), which was formed in 2003 to increase awareness of and access to early music. SEMF works to promote 1,000 years of living musical heritage on the Swedish and European music scene. Other activities
Among SEMF’s year-round activities is the concert series Early Music LIVE! and the winter festival SEMF Christmas Edition. 🎶Our official opening of the XXV Stockholm Early Music Festival 2026 was last month and we opened the festival strong with a captivating performance by the renowned ensemble Il Caravaggio, under the direction of Camille Delaforge, and did it all in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen!

Lördag 6 juni: Nationaldagen 2026 blev en historisk dag i svenskt musikliv. Efter nära 250 år fick Carl Michael Bellmans enda fullbordade sceniska verk, sångspelet "Bacchi Tempel" från 1783 sin bejublade världspremiär på Stockholm Early Music Festival. I regi av Patrik Sörling och musikalisk bearbetning av Jonas Dominique väckte föreställningen medial och publik beundran. Anonyma/Sollazzo introducerade lyssnarna i den vackra "Leuven Chansonnier" från 1400-talet och den unga, sammasvetsade ensemblen Pseudonym framförde music av "barock-influencers" såsom G Ph Telemann. Barnföreställningen "Det klingande guldet" med Ensemble Vilancico fick sin glittrande premiär.

Fredag 5 juni: Dag 3 av Stockholm Early Music Festival inledde den franska stråkduon Oliva-Laloum med en spännande konsert om Joseph Bologne kallad "den andre Mozart". Bellmans Bacchi Tempel belystes i ett fokuserat expert-panelsamtal. På kvällen förvandlade legendariske turbaduren Pino De Vittorio och Ca****la Neapolitana Tyska kyrkan till ett musikaliskt Neapel, fylld av folklig energi: Festiva Napoli 2500! Nattkonserten på madrasser bjöd på renässanssång och lutspel med Margaret Carpenter Haigh och Jonas Nordberg.

Torsdag 4 juni: Stockholm Early Music Festivals andra dag sträckte sig från Transsylvaniens mångkulturella musiklandskap med rumänska Codex Ensemble till den tidigaste vokala repertoaren i Europa i rösterna av Ordo Virtutum från Tyskland.
Dagens höjdpunkt var utan tvekan "The Sixteen" där denna, en av världens främsta vokalensembler, visade i "Masters of Imitation" sin unika förmåga att förena precision, klangskönhet och andligt djup.

Onsdag 3 juni: Stockholm Early Music Festivals 25-årsjubileum invigdes galant i närvaro av H.M. Drottningen.
Den franska ensemblen Il Caravaggio ledd av den talangfulla Camille Delaforge förtrollade publiken med ett besök på Parisoperan år 1736 och ett konsertant möte mellan Jean-Philippe Rameaus Les Indes galantes och den nyligen återupptäckta operan Les Génies av Mademoiselle Duval.

En lysande öppningskväll där fransk barockprakt satte tonen för firandet av festivalens första 25 år!

⭐️SARAO opens the doors to a rediscovered world: the Spanish villancicos of the 18th century. In this vibrant musical style, theatre, dance and folk energy come together in a sounding portrait of the festive culture of the time. The programme brings together works by Juan Francés de Iribarren in Málaga and Diego Pérez de Camino in Santo Domingo de la Calzada—two Baroque composers whose colourful music reflects a rich yet long-overlooked tradition.

Opera Omnia, under the direction of violinist Isaac M. Pulet, specialises in rediscovering the Spanish and Ibero-American Baroque heritage. With stylistic freedom, vitality and strong commitment, they breathe new life into a golden repertoire that refreshes our modern ears. Olé!⭐️
