THE Right Eye Dominant PODCAST
- Jeff Cowen on seeing, making, and forty years in the darkroom

When I first encountered Jeff Cowen's work in 2014, standing in front of his large photograph of Alice, which was pinned to the wall in the living room Jim and Millie Casper of Lens Culture in Paris, I didn't have words for it immediately. Just a very clear feeling that something shifted.

That's still how it goes with Jeff. His photographs, handmade, analogue, built up through 40 years of darkroom practice, resist the kind of language we usually reach for. They're not about technique, though the technique is extraordinary. They're about something harder to name.

So I was genuinely happy to discover that the podcast Right Eye Dominant managed to draw him out in the way that very few interviewers do. He talks about his process, his years assisting Larry Clark and Ralph Gibson, the Provence Works project — and about seeing, which turns out to be the thing that holds all of it together.

Anton Corbijn's photographs of Depeche Mode, U2, Kate Moss, Tom Waits, Ai Wei Wei, PJ Harvey and many more, floating in the space of an old grinding mill by a lake in Värmland. The old windows filters the light. On the opening night, Oscar stood up and read something Tom Waits wrote about Corbijn. After, we ate well.

Anton himself didn't make it for the opening. But he's coming. We will let you know when.

Thank you to everyone who made the journey to Borgvik — and to Oscar Magnusson, Karin B. Fäldt, Roger Borgelid (Photographer) and the entire Sliperiet team.

Photographs is on view until September 6th. Works are available — contact us for availability and editions.

The seventh edition of has come to a close, and the energy of Turin is still with us. We had the privilege of presenting works by , , and , and the response to their work moved us deeply.

One of the highlights we are proud to share: Nick Brandt received the inaugural Acquisition Award, a recognition given to works reflecting research, conscious innovation, and environmental sustainability.

The acquired work, Lucio and Chascas, Bolivia 2023, is the cover image of the second chapter from Bolivia of The Day May Break — a series that documents people and animals living on the frontlines of environmental destruction. Brandt's work will become part of corporate collection, joining works by and .

Nick Brandt's solo exhibition The Day May Break is on view until 6 September at Galerie D’Italia in Turin.

HELENE SCHMITZ — BLOW UP

The third artist we present at The Phair this week is Helene Schmitz who spent her career exploring humanity's complicated relationship to nature. Blow Up is where it began. Inspired by German photographer Karl Blossfeldt's plant portraits, the series marked Schmitz's entry into large-scale plant macro photography. Each work is titled with the plant's Latin name, balancing scientific precision with an unmistakable artistic sensibility. The flowers were placed against carefully considered matte backgrounds.

On view at The Phair, OGR Torino, 21–24 May 2026.

JAN C. SCHLEGEL

At The Phair this week, we are presenting two series by , each distinct in subject, united by the same dedication to craft and observation.

My Secret Garden began with a journey to Amsterdam to collect tulip bulbs, grown in Schlegel's own garden in Germany. What followed became something more intimate — a meditation on love, vulnerability, and the courage to open up. Flowers that are never just flowers. Each of the 15 works is a handmade platinum print on Japanese Gampi paper, embedded with white gold.

Silent Giants makes its premiere at The Phair. Schlegel photographs Brutalist architecture the way most photographers photograph people — with soft light, patience, and a gaze that looks for what lies beneath the surface. What appears at first as plain concrete gradually reveals rhythm, tension, and memory. Brutalism as character, not style.

On view today only — last day at The Phair, OGR Torino, 21–24 May 2026, OGR Torino, 21–24 May 2026.

NICK BRANDT

We are proud to present works from all four chapters of The Day May Break at The Phair.

The Day May Break is a global series portraying people and animals that have been impacted by climate change, environmental degradation and destruction. With this series, Nick Brandt has created a profoundly original body of work, one that represents an entirely new approach to climate-conscious photography, and one that gives us a vital means of considering what we all stand to lose. The environmental threat to life on this planet – both human and animal – is realized to devastating effect in these powerful yet tender portraits.

For a comprehensive experience of The Day May Break, the complete retrospective—featuring 63 large-format photographs—is on view at Galerie d'Italia in Turin until September 6, 2026. Curated by Arianna Rinaldo, this exhibition offers a concentrated visual reflection on the current environmental emergency and represents the first time all chapters have been shown together.

Note: In all cases, the photographs are all in camera, without any compositing.

Anton Corbijn x SLIPERIET 2026 🎞️

We are proud to present Photographs by at Sliperiet Konsthall in Värmland. An exhibition with one of the most influential image-makers of our time.

Through natural light and simple composition, Corbijn captures moments that feel both intimate and timeless. The exhibition at Sliperiet reveals his rare ability to create emotional proximity — in portraits that transcend image-making to become meditations on identity, creative life, and time itself.

“Wonderful to have a show in the Swedish country side which I have always loved and have used occasionally in my work. The show will most likely be a selection of my "best-of” stills.”
– Anton Corbijn

Last week we were immersed in universe🌼

On Wednesday, we gathered at for an artist talk with Cig and Fotografiska’s Jessica Jarl, a conversation on art, beauty, and finding meaning in uncertain times, followed by a tour of her exhibition and a screening of the awardwinning documentary EAT Flowers.

Thursday — An exclusive lunch with a carefully selected group of art lovers, and an intimate dinner in the evening, inspired by the recipes in Cig’s books, both with Cig herself as our guide through her exhibition and signing books.

Colour, flowers, food, and art. Spring arrived all at once.

Cig has returned home, but her works remain on view at the Matchstick Palace. We’d love to guide you into her universe — whether you’re curious about collecting or want to experience her works or book a lunch or a dinner event out of the ordinary.

Thank you to Jessica Jarl, Susanne Bonnier, Anna Zachrisson & the wonderful team at IVAR Stockholm. 🌿
