Storytelling in song is never easy. Think of how Bob Dylan paints the scenes in ‘Hurricane’ – vivid characters, hard truths, a story you can’t shake.

With his latest release, ‘Didn’t I Keep Running’, once again reminds us just how masterful a songwriter he is. He brings Old Virgil into sharp focus – a man with a peg for a foot, amputated after failed attempts to escape his captors during slavery. It’s a stark, haunting image, delivered with Eric’s trademark grace, empathy and depth.

Framed by an evocative production and arrangement from , this single doesn’t just tell a story – it pulls you into its world. And if this is a taste of what’s to come, the anticipation for the album release on 30.1 has never been higher.

‘Didn’t I Keep Running’ is out now. Take a moment, listen closely, and let the story stay with you.”

'Didn’t I Keep Running’ is the second-to-last single before ’s brand new album lands on January 30.
Produced & Arranged by our label head and A&R , is available on all platforms — here’s what Eric had to say about this special track:

”This song was inspired by an old photograph, depicting a peg-footed banjo player, who was surely a slave who had tried to escape. Runaway slaves who were captured after unsuccessful attempts to flee, were often punished with the amputation of a foot to prevent further flight and to discourage other slaves from trying. As I see it, we’re all still on the road to freedom." - Eric Bibb

4-star album review from Mojo

“Another late-career highight… Bibb and his long-time collaborator, producer Glen Scott, tease soulful rhythms out of their original songs and blend rootsy styles in unpredictable ways."
