Watercolour + Graphite.

This piece was inspired by the rainbow skintones that is a master at and thus only used three colours to limit the palette.

The colours used included:
- Cadmium Red Pale Hue
(PR255,PY65)
- Helio Turquoise
(PB16)
- Yellow Ochre
(PY42)

Houses.

Today was an attempt of using colours without them "fighting" too much or turning muddy.

I like the movement in the piece but I believe the textures and the houses could be improved.

I did attempt to play a bit with perspective by using different sized brushes but it has not shown.

Portrait "Yomna".

Pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone is filled with procrastination, failure and anxiety but doing so allows us to grow.

Portraits are scary and something that I've always found difficult.

To make my journey of pushing myself to do portraits more fun, I decided to choose someone in my class to paint.

kindly allowed me to use her photo as inspiration of the portrait.

Choosing to limit my palette to only two colours made the process easier and I managed to discover granulation!

What is granulation?

Granulation is simply when the pigment of paint sticks and clumps to one another forming granules of clumped pigment. The finer the pigment the less granulation and the larger the pigment particles the larger granules appear.

Taoist water.

Religion was a topic that we researched in art and the religion that I chose was Taosim.

Taoism is a religion with its origins in ancient China. I was fascinated by the elements of the religion and they used water to symbolise many things, including water and rebirth.

This connection to water helped me carry on the theme of life by focusing on different textures.

Resultingly, the piece was done in black and white to allow the textures to pop out and show how simple water flows.
