🎞️In the golden age of film photography, the tactile experience of working with slides was sorta magical. Curating vibrant transparencies on a light table felt like a high-stakes poker game, with each pile representing different visual currencies, ready to be sent off to eager editors. To catch their attention, photographers often resorted to subtle tactics: marking slides with ”COVER,” labeling standout images as ”EPIC,” or adding stars to highlight special shots. While it may seem embarrassing that we felt the need to promote our work this way—after all, shouldn’t a great photograph speak for itself?—these strategies were part of the competitive landscape of magazine photography. Looking back, this era was filled with anticipation and the tangible pleasure of physical media, where the fate of an image could hinge on a well-placed mark, promising adventure and recognition.🗻🌎🚁
