Cullberg is the national and international repertoire contemporary dance company in Sweden, continuously co-creating to make cutting edge dance relevant for the many. Together with choreographers from all over the world, we are exploring ideas on how dance can be defined, produced and presented. Those explorations are the pillars of a company that is constantly in motion at the heart of the international arena. 2019-2022, Cullberg works exclusively with three associated artists: Alma Söderberg, Deborah Hay and Jefta van Dinther. Our works emerge from the times we are living in, as part of the socio-political environment including equality, diversity and sustainability. Cullberg is led by artistic director Gabriel Smeets and managing director Stina Dahlström. Cullberg is part of Riksteatern - The Swedish National Touring Theatre.

Meet our apprentice for the season: Laure-Anne Sartorius!

Laure-Anne Sartorius is a French dancer and performer drawn to interdisciplinary creation, particularly at the intersection of movement and improvisation with voice, sound, and theatre. She uses her practice as an exutoire, exploring absurdity, loss of control, and collapse as ways of accessing a deeper form of listening. She explores these themes in her latest creation, Wheels of Fffft, Ffft, Three, a trio choreographed in collaboration with Sophia Descamps and Camille Cornet.
Before graduating from the four-year training programme at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in 2026, she was part of Atlantique Ballet Contemporain (2021–2022) and the Rencontres Internationales de Danse Contemporaine (2020–2021), where she completed part of the State Diploma in Teaching Contemporary Dance. She also trained at the Conservatory of Nice (2018–2020), earning a Diploma in Choreography (Diplôme d’Études Chorégraphiques).

Alongside her movement research, Laure-Anne practices visual arts, including painting, collage, and videography. She also is a certified BASI® Pilates teacher since May 2025.

Meet our apprentice for the season: Louis Montes!

Louis Manuel Maxime Montes is a French performance, dance and visual artist. His practice and movement emerge from high-physical improvisation and theatrical research on how the body as a receptacle of experiences, can unleash fleshy, hard but gentle, crude images. His latest solo work Under explores how identity and performance as a socially learned skill shift through the use of masks and question how the discarded and trashed away can actually be the core of new beginnings. He implements mask making and puppetry to his stage work, recently performing The Dog and the Other by Pau Camps Sanpedro.

Louis is the co-founder of NoFence Collective, touring works around Austria and Europe. Together with the 4 other members, they create works that wield satire as a political weapon, embracing the ridiculous, the awkward and using humour, intimacy and absurdity as transformative practices against fixed identities, rigid norms and the commodification of art.

He joined the Cullberg ensemble as an apprentice in July 2026 right after graduating from the 4 years training program in SEAD. He completed his bachelor's in Dance & Performance art at the University Bordeaux Montaigne, at the same time as his State Diploma in Teaching Contemporary dance in 2022. He has performed in venues such as La Manufacture CDCN Bordeaux, Stadtgalerie Lehen, Salzburger Fiestpiele, Mikis Theodorakis Theatre as well as in French dance company Chendance.
