The longing we get, the longing we desire is an exhibition by the Czech painter Alice Máselníková and the Swedish sculptor Tone Linghult. Their works are connected through an ultimate melancholic longing for unity and understanding. The artists show together upon the invitation of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm in the unique environment of the Czech Ambassador’s Official Residence in an exhibition that blends public space with the private.
Through painting and poetry Alice Máselníková inquires into how people interact with each other and with daily objects, what measures we take to attach ourselves to someone, find our kindred spirit and reach beyond our existential solitude; where we look and how we touch. But above all there is melancholia, the dreamers’ desire for things unreachable, indescribable, long gone – or never had.
