One of our main focuses in 2026 is creating new opportunities for artists and creators to access studios and accommodation, while helping property owners bring unused properties back to life.
We are working hard on this project to build strong connections between creators and property owners — and to revitalise the North of Sweden and Finland.

❤️ We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been part of the project MOVIN’ North – Movement, Outreach, Voices in North.

We are so happy to be active in so many municipalities and to see such wonderful, positive outcomes. It’s truly overwhelming how many people we have reached and how much difference this has made. For that, we can only say – thank you for letting us do this.
Tomorrow, Sunday 10 May, MOVIN’ Luleå opens its doors at 15:00 at Aktivitetshuset Kubben. Come and join if you can – for movement, stories, fika and a lovely moment together.

“What if we were the last ones?” - From 17–25 April, we are hosting a unique collaboration with Butoh Mutations at Moskosel Creative Lab — a Butoh (舞踏) retreat in the heart of Northern Sweden.

Butoh is a radical Japanese avant-garde dance form that explores the body through somatic practice, ritual, and deep creative movement. Known as the Dance of Darkness (Ankoku Butoh), it invites participants to engage with the hidden, shadowy layers of the human psyche.

Set against the raw beauty of the northern landscape, this retreat becomes a space for embodied exploration, resilience, and imagination in a time of global uncertainty.

Butoh Mutations continues the legacy of postwar Butoh, developing practices that reconnect body, mind, and environment—opening pathways for new ways of being and creating.

It is our pleasure to host this international gathering in Norrbotten, northern Sweden.

We continue to be an artist hub in northern Sweden ✨

While expanding through the MOVIN project (please follow it!) — actively creating in several municipalities — we continue growing at our home in Moskosel with ongoing artist residencies, workshops, and open events.

Today, we would like to share the words of a great upcoming filmmaker who was in residency with us. A big thank you to her — and to all the locals she met and shared meaningful moments together:

"My name is Natalia Dutkiewicz and I’m a student of film directing at the Lodz Film School ( Szkoła Filmowa w Łodzi / PWSFTviT ) in Poland. I arrived at Moskosel Creative Lab and immediately fell in love with this place. I was looking for a documentary subject for my diploma film. As well I had meetings online with my scriptwriter from Poland

I lived in a beautiful cabin with a view of the forest. Magnificent sunsets and sunrises can take your breath away. This place is so inspiring that creating here comes more natural. The quietness, the frozen lake where you can walk and walk and walk, the fresh air, the northern lights - it gives you more than you can expect. I had the best bus ride on those roads filled with snow. People are so open and welcoming. I couldn’t imagine a better place to work on my project. I’m so grateful for being here. It’s a small snowy heaven on Earth.

I spent several weeks in residency and had an incredible time. It was an intense, productive, and deeply enriching experience. I met the residents of Moskosel as well as artists participating in other artistic residency. A great opportunity to network and connect with other artists and creators.

As part of developing my documentary film, I documented the everyday lives of Thai women and visited Åse, who clears snow from the roads for car testing facilities. I also met former students of the school in Moskosel.

There are still many filmmaking steps ahead of me, but one thing is certain:
Moskosel Creative Lab & Northern Sustainable Futures provided outstanding conditions for the development and documentation of my documentary project.

During this time, I also completed the post-production of my short film “Madonna” and worked on the script for my diploma film. "
