We have sat with this for some time.
Needed to process, digest and grieve.
But it is time we tell the world so we can open new doors.
How young we were! Innocent, perhaps naive, even, and did not really know what it was we took on.
It started in 2011, when Hajni first came to Ängsbacka. Travelled from the UK to spend a month of her summer there, and chose this period because of a women’s event they’d had planned. Only, by the time she got there, the event was cancelled due to a low number of participants.
It wasn’t the time yet, back then. But it was where the seed was planted.
Then she met Marthe Alva.
They both felt the call.
They wanted this baby to grow at Ängsbacka. It is where they both have grown, immensely. It was, and will always be, a home in their hearts.
And Ängsbacka said YES! NOW, it is time. We want this. We want you.
For ten years, we grew together. We cried, we laughed, and danced. We failed and we succeeded. We did good and we made mistakes. We fought and we made up. We had many, difficult and uncomfortable conversations. We had blissful amazing moments of true purpose. We lost faith numerous times.
But we never gave up.
Because the force of Sacred Womb is bigger than us. It is the primal Source of the universe that is birthing this through us and all we can do is surrender our small human selves and show up.
This is an honouring of womanhood.
So it is with a sad heart that we share with you, Sacred Womb Women’s Festival will not be hosted at Ängsbacka any more.
It was not our decision, but we had to accept it. It came with a genuine, open-hearted, kind sharing from the management of Ängsbacka, which we value over everything.
Our event simply does not align with their vision for the future.
Sometimes, it is that simple.
Like in a relationship, even if you love each other deeply, there may come a point where you’ll want different things.
We may have had to let go of our home, but we will not let go of our spirit.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE, WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS SPACE IN ANY WAY!
And we will keep rising.
