Had a field trip to Eg, Kristiansand today.

Looking for Vesuvianite and Andratite/Grossular. Found almost nothing to bring home, but sometimes it is just cool to watch the crystals that are in the nature, and let them stay this way 😍

Hooray I got a new UV flash light. Here is how a Calcite from Malmverget looks under UV light (second picture in normal light).

This one was found in a pocket in the mines of Malmberget in 1988 or 1989. After finding the pocket, a miner (or more?) was able to pull out some samples. Already the next morning the pocket was filled with concrete.

My sample is 31 cm, which makes me one of the lucky owners of one of these best ones from this pocket. I was shocked to see how cool it was under UV light! 😍

Digital art / NFT
I am not sure if this is the right audience, but I would like to share my new Instagram account that I will dedicate to digital art of minerals, mined into NFTs.

I promised some better pictures of the Chinese Calcite that my cat viewed some days ago. Here it is. It is not for sale and in my private collection.

Calcite from Weshan, Yunnan, China
Size: 76x131x100 mm

The calcite reminds a lot of the world-famous calcite from the Parta pocket in Malmberget, found in the 1980s. The Swedish one has a better deep inside color, but the Chinese one is also fantastic and looks great in the collection.

This is the nature's own art, Dendritic Agate and Opal from Eskisehir, Anatolia, Turkey.
Size: 99x103x57 mm (709 gr.)

All natural. Not for sale.

My cat, Salmonella, checking out the new arrival for my private collection (not for sale).

Calcite from Weshan, Yunnan, China
Size: 76x131x100 mm

Fantastic translucent honey yellow calcite. It kind of reminds og the world famous Calcite from Parta, Malmberget, Sweden found in the late 1980s. Putting them side by side you see that the Parta Calcite is by far still the best, but I really love this Chinese version too 😍😍

Size: 125x98x117 mm (833 gr.)
Not for sale, in my private collection

I just love the translucent champagne color of this calcite from Kazakhstan. One of my personal favorites in my collection. I even found the papers from when my father bought this one from his Russian friends 20-30 years ago.

Super rare combination of Thomsonite pseudomorph (after Nepheline) and Diopside from Seiland, Finnmark, Norway found in the late 1980's by my father.
Size: 109x69x73 mm (854 gr.)

Not for sale, and it's in my private collection.

In mineralogy, a pseudomorph is a mineral or mineral compound that appears in an atypical form (crystal system), resulting from a substitution process in which the appearance and dimensions remain constant, but the original mineral is replaced by another.

It is a very rare combination, and my father found just a few ones like this. I have now got it proven by lab that it is in fact Thomsonite. You can also see the mineral listed at Seiland at Mindat: https://www.mindat.org/loc-341193.html

I got a few others from this material that I will put up for sale, but only 1 with this quality.

It was found in the mountains of Bumannsfjord. Most of the year the field where the minerals are found is covered with ice and snow, and today this area is now a part of the Seiland National Park, and collecting from this area is now strictly forbidden. So not only is this a rare material, also it will not be collected any more of it.
