The Participatory Stage was a 6-week residency bringing together scenography, performance art, and play design at our historic Kommendanthuset.
Together with international residents Sarah Kaushik, Tangmo Ladapha, and Nidhi Jacob, under the mentorship of Annita Douka, we explored how public space, site specificity, and ”more-than-human” environments can host moments of civic connection, play, and care.

What if, for an hour, you could step out of ordinary life and embody another being? Imagine entering a world where a garden hedge, a crow, or the sun become your teachers.

On Tuesday, 11 August and Wednesday, 12 August, cultural hub STPLN invites the public to step into The Participatory Stage, an immersive experience that turns the outdoor landscape around STPLN into a living, shifting world co-created by the audience itself.

Supported by Culture Moves Europe, this showcase represents the culmination of an intensive six-week summer residency. International resident artists Sarah Kaushik, Tangmo Ladapha, and Nidhi Jacob spent July exploring how participatory theatre and urban design can act as creative tools for civic engagement, spatial activation, and ecological empathy in today’s complex social and political climate.
