Artibus is a membership based ceramics studio in Malmö. The studio-shop is open the first weekend of every month. Saturday & Sunday, 11-4pm.

We have a shop with handmade ceramics from our diverse portfolio of artists and we offer ceramic courses on both beginner and advanced level.

Meet the Potter: Emily Catanuso
Emily Casanova

My pottery journey began six years ago here in Malmö, a long way from my hometown of Washington DC.

Over the years, I’ve explored various techniques from wheel throwing to hand-building, but I always find my way back to coiling. Hand-building free-form sculptures is my true happy place. It is a meditative, intuitive process where I feel completely connected to the clay. Honestly, the joy of the process is often more important to me than the final product.

I’m constantly inspired by nature to create organic forms. I design my pieces to be experienced from a 360-degree perspective, so they leave a different impression depending on how you look at them. One of my favourite parts of this work is hearing what my sculptures remind you of!

Mimi creates ceramics inspired by animals, nature and the unexpected. Fascinated by the way form and glaze can create something both inviting and unsettling, her work exists somewhere between horror and candy shops - where attraction meets unease.

Working with organic forms, tactile surfaces and subtle imperfections, she creates pieces that invite touch while lingering in the imagination long after the first encounter.
