Meet one of the exhibitors at MABB 2024 - STARTING TODAY!: Poem Atlas/Astra Papachristodoulou (UK)

Poem Atlas is an exhibition platform and publisher founded by poet and artist Astra Papachristodoulou. This platform exists to connect people to the transformative power of visual poetry, a form of poetry that poetry that presupposes a viewer as well as a reader. This initiative aims to achieve this by showcasing poets and text artists from diverse backgrounds in the UK and beyond, through physical and online exhibitions, anthologies, books and objects.
To date, we have curated events in the UK and beyond including The Poetry Society, the Art Park Gallery, the Winning Gallery and The Westminster Reference Library, and have showcased work from over 100 new and established poets from around the world. We also started the tradition of online visual poetry exhibitions in December 2019, and have curated several successful online exhibitions since. As Poem Atlas is the first ever exhibition platform in London to focus on tactile poetry, the project is aimed to poets who are interested to expand their knowledge of visual poetry.

Meet one of the exhibitors at MABB 2024 - STARTING TOMORROW!: Kurt Johannessen (NO)

Kurt Johannessen (b.1960) published his first artist’s book in 1984. In 1999 he founded his own publishing house, Zeth Forlag, which publishes all the books. Many of his books are text-related, but some are based on drawings or photographs. The text works are often stories in a few sentences. They are visual, poetic and sometimes humorous. He has so far produced 139 books. In 2013, he started the book series Om-noko. There are 20 books in the series and many of them were the basis for various performance lectures. These books lie at the intersection between philosophy/visual arts/poetry/science. Later, he has created picture book series that lean more towards the poetic. In 2024, he has produced 7 new books.

Meet one of the exhibitors at MABB 2024 - STARTING FRIDAY!: Karl Larsson/The PUUT LIBRARY (SE)

The PUUT LIBRARY is an ongoing work of art by Karl Larsson, originated from the project “Miljonprogrammet” (The one million project) in which Larsson since 2003 with the the camera making an ever-expanding photographic archive containing over two million images. Based in this material, Larsson in a do-it-yourself tradition continuously makes his own publications - sometimes in collaborative form. These titles form the basis of the PUUT library.

A core of the library system is dialogue, as the whole idea rests on a structure of exchange. Within this premise, the PUUT library explores art and aesthetics as a greater desire to make conteporary art more accessible. In times when collective culture is under attack, the library becomes an act of resistance – a place of contemplation, where everyone is given a place to be through collective ownership.

The library (like the artist) is a nomad, who during 2023 made visits in Wales, Denmark, Turkey and Sweden. This to enable the practice within different contexts that art and culture offers; such as artist’s books fairs, zine-fests, artist run initiatives as well as institutions. The library contains 104 titles, has 166 members from 23 different countries, whom made 97 loans during 2023.

Meet one of the exhibitors at MABB 2024 - STARTING FRIDAY!: KKV Grafik (SE)

Konstnärernas Kollektiva Verkstad Grafik is a printmaking collective workshop and studio in Malmö. The workshop is primarily a workplace for artists working in various printmaking techniques. Members work span from traditional craftsmanship to innovative and more experimental approaches to printmaking. Many of the members are working with artists’ books, an interest that has been growing over the years.
KKV Grafik has several contacts and collaborators both here and abroad and has established several residencies and artists’ exchanges throughout the years. This work continues together with establishing important contacts with art/design educations in the south of Sweden.
KKV Grafik is an important resource for its current members but also for future artists and designers when graduating.

My Artists´Books are all handmade. The editions are very small and only unique samples/objects. My artistic field is printmaking and the books are made from silkscreen or linocuts.

LL’Editions is a Swedish publishing imprint collaborating with contemporary artists, both local and international. Our editions range from artists' books and multiples in small numbers to project oriented books and monographs. LL’Editions’ books are often released in both trade editions and in signed and numbered special editions, featuring artist’s treatments, special materials, multiples and prints.
Our books have received awards such as Svensk Bokkonst and The Swedish Photobook Prize, and are held in a number of important private and public collections.
