Agatha Christie, born 1890 in English town Torquay, is probably one of the most famous writers of detective novels of all times. Her series based on the adventures of detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple are among the most well-known in the genre. She holds the world record for most books sold, roughly 2 billion copies translated into more than 100 languages.

H. P. Lovecraft was born in 1890 in Providence, Rhode Island. He is known for creating supernatural horror fiction about ancient creatures trying to break in to our reality. He recieved little recognition during his lifetime, but was later considered one of the most significant 20th-century horror authors giving rise to the Lovecraftian subgenre of horror fiction.

American writer Joan Didion was born in Sactamento, California in 1934. In 2005 she won the National Book Award for Nonfiction for her moving autobiographical The Year of Magical Thinking, a book about loss dealing with the death of her husband. Didion is known for being a part of the "New Jounalism" movement and has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the PEN Center USA.

British author Neil Gaiman was born in Portchester in 1960. Among his most famous works are The Sandman, Neverwhere, American Gods, Coraline and Good Omens, the later co-written with his good friend Terry Pratchett and adapted for television in 2019. He has won numerous awards and is considered one of the great storytellers of our time.
