Entertaining Bad Vibes is a conversation series and podcast born out of a longing for in-depth discussions within Swedish theater and intersections between the stage, theory, and other aesthetic fields.

Theme of the day: INSTITUTIONS AND ANTI-FASCISM

Institutions – what are they and what to do with them? Artistic institutions and institutions in general are sites where administration, rules, possibility and limits converge. Malleable and inert in infinitely confusing ways, institutions are constructions holding potential to repress, sustain, silence and create conditions for thriving. Post October 7th and in the face of global rising fascisms the urgency of dealing with the role of the institution has surged. In this conversation, philosopher Henrike Kohpeiß and Johanna Malm will delve into what can be thought about and done with institutions in a moment of seemingly ever escalating authoritarianism and violence.

DANS (SVERIGE) – GROUP VERSION

With uncompromising irreverence and humor, the piece embarks us on a joyful parade, a protest in which fools, witches, coquettes and showgirls summon up their forces and courage in the face of oppression and in times of looming fascism.

Dans (Sverige) – Group Version consists of a dialogue between Frédéric Gies’ prolific body of work, which they created since they moved to Sweden 12 years ago and Maison de Fous (Dråhuset), the 1920 dance piece by Les Ballets Suédois. Through this dialogue, Dans (Sverige) – Group Version explores the subversive power and the revolutionary dimension of the figure of the Fou. With uncompromising irreverence and humor, the piece does away with the fetishization of national origins and embarks us on a joyful parade, a protest in which fools, witches, coquettes and showgirls summon up their forces and courage in the face of oppression and in times of looming fascism. The original techno soundtrack as been created by Fiedel.

This new ensemble work is based on a solo version of the project, which hasn’t been presented in Malmö yet. It also connects to the exhibition Frédéric Gies and Maison de Fous, which will take place at Moderna Museet Malmö (5.12 2026 to 11.4 2027).

Frédéric Gies is a choreographer and the artistic director of Dance is ancient, a platform for dance in Malmö. Their work is showcased internationally in various contexts (dance venues, music festivals, museums). Approaching forms as possibilities rather than constraints, their pieces put to the forefront the capacity of dance to speak independently from language.

20 YEARS AT MAZETTIHUSET
20 YEARS ON BERGSGATAN.
THAT CALLS FOR A CELEBRATION.
Twenty years ago, Inkonst moved to Bergsgatan 29, turning a former chocolate factory into a home for concerts, performing arts, club nights, experiments and encounters of all possible — and impossible — kinds.
Since then, we’ve danced, listened, been provoked, fallen in love, lost ourselves and found something new again. Now we’re celebrating our first 20 years — and the beginning of at least 20 more.
2–3 OCTOBER
Dance, exhibition, live music and a club night bringing back some familiar faces from two decades on the dance floor.

Fools, witches, coquettes and showgirls come together in a parade that is as irreverent as it is joyful.
In DANS (SVERIGE) – Group Version, Frédéric Gies brings their own choreographic practice into dialogue with Maison de Fous, a 1920 work by Les Ballets Suédois. The result explores the fool as a subversive and revolutionary figure, while challenging ideas of national origin and identity.
A protest through dance, humour and bodies refusing to fall in line — set to an original soundtrack by Fiedel.

The anniversary weekend opens with an exhibition looking back at Inkonst’s two decades on Bergsgatan — from the move from Möllevångsgården to years of experimental performing arts, concerts, club nights, Intonal and more late nights than anyone has kept count of.
A collective memory in images. Of the spaces, the people and the culture that have filled this building since 2006.

Reminder! Sista chansen att uppleva vandringsljudverket "Man kan ju inte leva på luftbubblor och drömmar, liksom", som pågår till 1 oktober.

Ett brutalt ärligt och lustfyllt ljudverk om klass och trasiga familjerelationer – med Sigurd Lewerentz arkitektur som fond och Östra kyrkogården som utgångspunkt.
Lisen och hennes mamma har inte haft kontakt på många år. Relation har varit så trasig att det varit bättre att inte höras alls. Men plötsligt en dag skickar mamman ett sms. Hon vill prata om arkitekten Sigurd Lewerentz. Och om att de är släkt. Men vem är ens Sigurd? Och vad ska Lisen göra med en åldrande mamma, en arbetarklassförälder, som försöker nå fram genom berättelser om en död arkitekt, världsarv och finkultur. Trots stora tvivel bestämmer sig Lisen för att ge mamman en chans. Kanske är detta deras sista möjlighet att hitta tillbaka till varandra

Medan publiken rör sig genom kyrkogården växer ett nära, dokumentärt samtal mellan mor och dotter, fram i hörlurarna.

Cello pushed past its breaking point.

Brooklyn-based cellist, composer and sound artist Leila Bordreuil works where noise, improvisation, contemporary composition and drone begin to bleed into each other — using extended techniques and extreme amplification to turn the cello into an entire acoustic environment.

Her collaborative orbit is just as expansive: Laurel Halo, Kali Malone, Drew McDowall (Coil), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Thurston Moore and many more.

Opening the night is Malmö-based Mimosa Baker x nrl, moving through drones, distortion and vocal loops. Baker is also a prolific collaborator, including as vocalist and synth player in post-psych outfit Den Der Hale.

Two practices drawn toward resonance, friction and the strange emotional life of sound.

FIRST SHOW OF SS/27 — TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW.

Dub pioneer Scientist comes to Inkonst on 6 February. Emerging from King Tubby’s legendary Kingston studio in the late ’70s, Hopeton Brown helped turn the mixing desk into an instrument of its own — bass, echo, reverb and radical subtraction reshaping recordings into new architectures of sound.

The night is presented together with Malmö’s own Deng Deng HiFi, digging into their record collection throughout the evening — vinyl pressure, no sound system this time.

This is the first concert announced for SS/27. Tickets are available now — or, for those willing to wait until the end of the year, Scientist will also be included in the SS/27 Season Pass.
