Helt ny, originell flerspråkig teater på Stenkrossen Lund, med dialog på både svenska och engelska.

Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, satt under många år fängslad på order av Elisabet I, The Virgin Queen, som fruktade att Mary skulle ta tronen ifrån henne. På scen träder även andra legendariska drottningar fram ur historiens skuggor för att vittna om skärningspunkten mellan kön och makt.

I denna nya och originella bearbetning av Schillers pjäs "Maria Stuart", av det svensk/franska teaterkompaniet Theater In-Balance förvandlas scenen till en platsspecifik “brottsutredning” om maktens pris för kvinnor genom historien.

Föreställningen sålde slt på Kulturen och Malmöhus Slott. Nu en chans i Lund på Stenkrossen den 9 september kl 19:00.
Biljetter även vid dörren.

ABOUT THE PLAY
THE QUEENS' FILES
Drottningarna mot Makten

An original multilingual adaptation which springs from and is inspired by the play "Mary Stuart" by Friedrich Schiller; a brand new text-and-movement creation focusing on the lives and haunting destiny of historical figures Mary Stuart Queen of Scots and Queen Elisabeth the First.

They were women, they were queens and they were cousins; destined to be enemies from birth, united by power, tossed into a seething political maelstrom, a tale as relevant to today as it is to the past. The play is a mystery-crime-story investigating power and gender from the perspective of what possibilities a Queen has to rule in a man's world. An ensemble researching injustice in a world of power and gender - a story only more relevent than ever today, as it has been through the centuries.

Thank you Lund! Stenkrossen is the home base for Theater In-Balance in Lund thanks to the generosity of Lunds kommun, specifically their Stenkrossen MAXI scheme which gave us a full-time three-year residency starting from January this year.

We love it! And have so enjoyed working here at Stenkrossen the last 3 years too under the mini/ midi scheme and we are able to use the space - the enormous stage Byghallen , the smaller black box Svarta Lådan, the foyer, the meeting & rehearsal rooms... all to work, rehearse, create, educate, invite guest lecturers, schools, hold theatre labs, masterclasses, drama workshops and of course perform.
Now with the three-year residency we can really anchor our footing and grow. All under the direction of Theater In-Balance Artistic Director Mariana Araoz and her unique In- Balance Method of physical theatre-, object theatre- and ensemble theatre- performance, which incorporates principles of mask & puppetry.

Every year at Stenkrossen we hold a very popular annual multilingual Open Stage in June/ July to showcase the work, development, growth and projects of our growing community of locally- based performing artists and creatives, both Swedish and international, such as Playmate Theatre Malmö and many more. Our OPEN STAGE is free entrance, open to the public and we also reach out to the people of Lund and the region during Open House days. This year we are showing our work as a part of Sommarlund too and during Kulturnatten.

During our residency over these next 3 years we of course share the space with other glorious creatives and artists such as Cirkus Syd. And we are in the process of finding ways to collaborate with the circus community on stage and off.

We are SO excited to be working on the new black box version - inside the theatre this time! - of THE QUEENS' FILES after our runaway success doing the play this summer first as promenade theatre, site-specific, with a cast of seven, outdoors at Kulturen i Lund in July and then in the ballroom at Malmö museum at Malmöhus Slott in August.

Now set designer Marta Cicionesi shares her vision with us in these set models of the play in its new version as we will present it ON STAGE:

All performances of our sold-out site-specific run as promenade theatre at Kulturen i Lund and at Malmö museum of THE QUEENS' FILES are inspired by the vision, direction, adaptation and artistic creation of Theatre In- Balance Artistic Director Mariana Araoz, using her original In- Balance Method of ensemble theatre performance technique, based on elements of mask, object theatre and puppetry.

The In-Balance Method is a technique Mariana also teaches at renowned drama schools internationally such as L'École du Jeu , Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo, at Teaterhögskolan i Malmö, Fridhems folkhögskola and via the In-Balance Theatre Institute & Incubator based out of Stenkrossen; where Theatre In-Balance has their three-year residency via Stenkrossen Mini / Midi /Maxi
