Masterclass 3: Object Theatre & Mask
As part of Mariana's masterclass on April 18th/19th, during the two days' master class
led by our Artistic Director, mask- and object-theatre expert Mariana Araoz on the In-Balance Method, we are excited to share there will be additional brief input ALSO by invited guest tutor and working Swedish physical theatre and multilingual actress Olivia Longo.

Olivia Long is a highly established, respected Swedish theatre/film actress and in parallel a drama teacher with years of experience teaching theatre to young people and adults. Olivia has been based in Skåne since the late ‘90s. Olivia started her acting training journey in Paris, was taught by members of the PETER BROOKS company in “Mahabarata” , studied mime inspired by Decroux.
In Sweden Olivia continued with physical theatre with Robert Jacobsson, Teater Albatross and since then has worked solidly as a character & physical theatre actress with theatre companies such as Alla tiders teater, INSITE, Teater Foaje, Fri Scenkonst, Apolonia, among others.
Olivia is passionate about physical and classic theatre. For several years Olivia collaborated theatrically with the director SVEN S. HOLM. Olivia has, among other roles, portrayed Indra’s Daughter Agnes in Strindberg’s A Dream Play and as Miss Julie, witch in Macbeth, as well as Oedipus’ mother Jocasta, more recently as the physical embodiment of the witch Hekate in HÄXAN.
Music plays a significant role in Olivia’s artistic work, using her voice talent. Olivia combines her ability to perform deep and emotionally charged roles and strong female characters with a passion for moving story-telling.

*The In-Balance Incubator & Institute
In Paris Theatre In-Balance have been conducting professional theatre training for over ten years. Now we bring the whole programme to Sweden and therefore in 2025 have opened The In-Balance Incubator & Institute in Lund/Malmö. Now with our base/training space at Srenkrossen Lund.
Masterclasses can be taken individually or as part of a longer 2-year DIPLOMA PROGRAMME.
The In-Balance Incubator & Institute is a part of our ongoing lab project connected with our open stage and summer Festival in Lund every year at Stenkrossen where Theatre In-Balance have a home for the next 3 years thanks to the extended MAXI residency we have received from 2026. Mariana is currently training a team of In-Balance Method teachers who once they receive a diploma will be qualified teachers.
