Sometimes the sample sizes I’m asked to make for commissioned designs are a little too small for me two wear myself. I’m not usually one for making the same thing twice, but I had to have a from the DARUMA Lumières collection. It isn’t the easiest of patterns, and I had to fall back on traditional drafting skills to get my head around the construction {visual aids for the win}, but it’s so, so worth it. Also, this yarn turns my hands green, which just tickles me pink.

Slowly slowly we’re dragging ourselves out of the summer equivalent of hibernation (outernation?). Kinda tricky, but luckily we have some fun things planned for the coming months. In the space of about 18 months, I’ll have renovated and opened a studio space, created 3 crochet courses and taught five runs, hosted 3 craft meet-ups in a completely new neighbourhood, completed a series of 6 paintings, held an art show, and generally done life with two kids too.

And THEN my brain has the audacity to make me feel bad about not having done much pattern design work lately?!

WTF.

So I love these, I really do, but they’ll be finished when they’re finished.

Itty bitty lacy thing. I’m in the middle of teaching a new crochet course on fundamental techniques beyond the basics. The tricky thing has been to narrow it down to six (one for each session), because I could go oooooon and on and demonstrate about 20. Lace though. Lace always wins (because then you can teach stitch charts too, and who doesn’t love a good stitch chart?!).

The yarn is a bit of hand-dyed merino, leftover from the (remember that one?).
