När januarisolen äntligen återvänder efter en lång, mörk och inte sällan kall vinter är det tillsammans med det årliga eventet Snöfestivalen. Festivalen anordnas traditionsenligt sedan 1986 under den sista januariveckan, med festivalfinal på lördagen. Mitt i Kiruna stadskärna kommer kulturen till liv genom denna snöfest. am med stor fokus på kultur. Under snöfestivalen arrangeras det allt från den internationella snöskulpturtävlingen, hundspannsåkning, renrace, konståkning, musikframträdanden, dans och en stor snölekpark för de minsta besökarna! Men festivalens huvudinslag är utan tvekan Kirunas Internationella Snöskulpturtävling. Vi är stolta över att kunna arrangera denna unika tävling som lockar världens främsta snöskulptörer till Kiruna. Snöfestivalen arrangeras sedan 2012 årligen i centrala Kiruna av den ideella musikföreningen Tusen Toner. ENGLISH:

When the light returns and the cold is biting the skin the people of Kiruna celebrate the snow and the winter with the Kiruna Snow Festival. This winter festival is held during the last weekend of january in the middle of the Kiruna city center, and as always the festival is full of activities for all ages. During the Snowfestival you will be able to take part in the rich culture Kiruna has to offer. With everything from snow-sculptures, painting exhibitions, dog sledding, figure skating, live music preformances and a kid’s playground designed by snow. But the main event of the festival is undoubtedly the Kiruna International Snow Sculpture Competition. A world class competition which attracts some of the best artist from all over the world. When the light returns and the cold is biting the skin the people of Kiruna celebrate the snow and the winter with the Kiruna Snow Festival.
