We are proud to welcome award-winning Somali artist Aar Maanta, one of the leading voices in contemporary Somali music, for his exclusive appearance in Sweden.
Aar Maanta brings together music, film and storytelling to explore identity, migration, language and life in the Somali diaspora.
During his participation through out the festival, audiences will experience:
🎬 Kudaal - a screening of the powerful short film inspired by Aar Maanta’s iconic song Tahriib, exploring exile, identity, resilience and the longing for home.
💬 Conversation & Q&A - Aar Maanta will discuss his work, the stories behind his projects and the themes that continue to shape his art. The conversation will be moderated by Musa M. Isse.
🎵 Live performance - the evening will close with three songs performed live with an oud player, connecting music with themes of children, migration and Tahriib.
Aar Maanta is also behind Ubadkaa Mudnaanta Leh (Children Have Priority), recognised as one of the world’s first bilingual Somali-English children's albums, created to bring Somali language and culture to a new generation growing up in the diaspora.
We are very excited to welcome Aar Maanta to Somalisk Kulturfestival 2026 for this special evening of music, film and conversation.
