Happy to welcome Princess Sofia of Sweden to a private tour of our Stockholm gallery just hours ahead of the launch last week.

Julius Nordvinter’s work “Familj på besök i vattenpalats” became focal point of discussion and interest and remains on display until the 14th of May at the inaugural show MORPHEUS at Linnégatan 14.

MORPHEUS - Exhibition at Mankovsky Gallery Stockholm until 14th of May.

Artist in spotlight: Shigeki Matsuyama (Tokyo - Japan)

Every beginning requires a shift in perception.

Morpheus marks the opening of Mankovsky Gallery Stockholm, a space between states, where realities are shaped, questioned, and reimagined. The exhibition draws on the idea that perception is never fixed, but constructed through the frameworks that surround us: how art is curated, presented, and ultimately valued.

Dreams resist control. They unfold unpredictably, revealing fragments of truth beneath what appears stable. Elsewhere, a choice is offered: remain within the familiar illusion, or step beyond it and see differently. Morpheus exists between these positions, where established structures can be questioned, and new perspectives begin to emerge.

As a new- generation gallery entering the Stockholm art scene, Mankovsky resists narrow definitions and predictable narratives. Instead, Morpheus embraces multiplicity. It brings together a group of emerging artists whose practices are not only distinct, but indicative of a future still in formation.

Working across materials, ideas, and visual languages, the exhibition does not seek cohesion. Instead, it treats distance, contrast, and tension as a curatorial method—allowing each practice to exist on its own terms while contributing to a wider dialogue.

For us, curation is a way of navigating: creating space for new voices and unexpected encounters. Morpheus is a beginning shaped by openness, friction, and a belief that emerging artists have the capacity to redefine the structures that frame them.

Sunday 22nd marked the next chapter in Mankovsky Gallery’s Artist Management- program with the duo exhibition by Camilla Engström and our artist Julius Nordvinter in Hong Kong. The show is curated by acclaimed gallerist Carl Kostyál and took place in his amazing gallery location at Landmark South.

”The exhibition marks Julius Nordvinter’s debut presentation in Asia and Camilla Engström’s return to the region, where she has established a strong presence in recent years. Engström has exhibited widely across Asia with Carl Kostyl, including Jing Art Fair, Beijing (2023), Art021 Shanghai (2024) and most recently the group exhibition The Cloak of Dreams’ at SWCAC Museum, Shenzhen (2025).

”Camilla Engström’s luminous landscapes and Julius Nordvinter’s psychologically charged portraits approach painting from different directions yet share a common lineage. Both artists echo a long Nordic pictorial tradition in which landscape operates as a stage for mythic or psychological drama.

Engström’s paintings depict environments that fee both recognisable and strangely displaced.
Oversized flowers, tree stumps and geological forms occupy the foreground like actors entering a scene, illuminated by a warm horizon. Having lived between Sweden, Shanghai and Los Angeles, the Chinese-Swedish artist constructs landscapes informed by very different visual worlds:
Scandinavian traditions of landscape painting, dense contemporary urban environments and the expansive light of the American West. The resulting terrains do not belong to a single geography. They function instead as landscapes of the mind.

Nordvinter’s paintings turn inward. His canvases are populated by figures caught somewhere between confrontation and introspection. Faces echo across the background, gestures remain unresolved, and the characters appear suspended within an ambiguous psychological space. In
’Portrait of Man Without Shovel, the background is composed of lines marking days one by one- an image that suggests time passing inside an internal enclosure.”

We present Mike Miller! In collaboration with and we will be exhibiting Mike’s most iconic works during D-Congress in Gothenburg, Sweden, in booth H06C.

The Private View will take place at our gallery on Vallgatan 15, Gothenburg, between 17.00 (5pm) to 19.00 (7pm) on Tuesday 3rd of March. Mike will be visiting Sweden for the first time and be present to sign his book “Outtakes & Icons” during this evening.

“Mike Miller documented the late 80’s and 90s West Coast hip-hop scene with intimate images of artists like Tupac, Eazy-E and Snoop Dogg during the genre’s formative rise.
His candid, insider style captures unfiltered moments, giving his work lasting cultural authenticity and historical weight.
Millers works is institutionally recognized through exhibitions and collections at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Getty Museum.

Excited to collaborate with the talented Roland- Philippe Kretzschmar (The Art Bystander) on a curated selection of works by our artists at Mankovsky Gallery!

“I’ve curated a selection of works for Mankovsky Gallery’s program and collection, featuring Jamie Nelson, Jordy Kerwick, Julius Nordvinter, Kyte Tatt, Miles Jaffe, Niall Campbell Strachan, Pablo Frisk, and Simon Lohmeyer, viewed through my own eye as founder of The Art Bystander. The criteria were deliberately simple: the work had to resonate.
Some pieces are understated, others charged, others immediate — but each carried a presence that stayed long after the first encounter. The selection emerged through instinct rather than theory: works that interrupt you for a moment, redirect your attention, and feel unmistakably alive.
This wasn’t guided by trends, categories, or market cycles, but by something more fundamental — an artwork’s ability to subtly shift the atmosphere of a room. These are the pieces that did that for me.
I hope they move you in their own way.”
