As preparation for my talk about hats from a Swedish folkdress point of view in Halland I came across this statement from an interview with someone born 1867 in the village Alfhög.
They mention something they call
Baselik/Baschlik, a sort of hood in a lighter finer cloth. It sloped in the front with long tips that sometimes had pompoms and sometimes were embroidered. The tips could be tossed over the shoulders or tied.

I haven't really seen anything regarding folk costumes that really fits the description. But then by a coincidence I found a hood in the digital collection of our state museums, that looks very much like the description.
And, hold your horses, the hood is from Äskhults by the place I was gonna give the talk! And is said to belong to one of the Jöns family that lived there in the end of 1800s, that one of the farm is name after.

Unfortunately there is only one picture, so no idea how it looks in the back, or if it is depicted in the right way. It might be more logical to have the cords in the neck than in the front for example.

But I think it is very cool to see what may be a written description and possible the real item
