Libby Burke Wilde’s image ‘Bide’ has been shortlisted by the British Journal of Photography for Portrait of Britain, the annual competition that celebrates the many faces of modern Britain.

‘Bide’ (/bʌɪd/), in Lancashire dialect, means ‘to remain or stay somewhere’. The image is part of a photography series that paints an intricate portrait of Afghan families who have resettled in the Lancashire hills.

Inside Lowland Kids, Sandra Winther’s debut documentary feature.

The waters are rising in the American South. Two siblings watch the only world they know disappear before their eyes in a sensuous film about the loss of childhood.

Sandra originally connected with the community of Isle de Jean Charles back in 2019, creating a critically acclaimed short film of the same name. But the story never felt complete. To really do it justice, she felt they had to return; and when they did, the landscape — politically and environmentally — felt vastly different. This time, they filmed through one of the worst hurricanes the community had seen in years, which ended up being the final straw to relocate. Sandra explains how this type of filmmaking is more important than ever; to raise awareness on the humanitarian crises developing on American coastlines and beyond.
