The 2026 Guldbagge Awards: The Winners
Tonight, all winners of the 2026 Guldbagge Awards were announced at Cirkus in Stockholm. Tarik Saleh’s Eagles of the Republic, which premiered in the Cannes main competition, was named Best film and emerged as the evening’s biggest winner, taking home six Guldbagge awards in total. Kevlar Soul and Raptures followed with two awards each. Filmen om Siw received the Guldbagge Audience Award, while Ylva Swedenborg was honored with the Award of Honour. Jessika Jankert received this year’s Gullspira, and Rio Svensson was awarded the Guldpiga for his performance in Kevlar Soul.

The 61st edition of the Guldbagge Awards was hosted by actress Shima Niavarani. During the evening, the following awards were presented:

Dear film lovers, here we are at the end of the year, as we are every year, to watch the best documentaries (of all lengths) and short films from the Balkans as part of an event called Short Film Day, which has been globally designated to take place on December 21st, since around 2015. The whole planet watches and follows the latest achievements in short and animated films on the shortest day of the year December 21st. We are aware that this is not the best day for film screenings, with Christmas and the holidays knocking at the door, but why not? Everyone who is not rushing around for Christmas is welcome to join us in seeing what young and new creators from around the world are doing and working on in short and animated film in the Balkans.

That's great to hear—we have many authors from around the world who trace their origins to the Balkans and explore or combine their identities through film. We have the film Avalanche Man about the drummer Đura and the entire movement of young drummers, a Greek documentary about the challenges of road construction, or the ever-relevant female perspective on motherhood, freedom of choice, and pregnancy itself. So, our themes are diverse and very engaging. Around twenty films are plenty for these two days:
on December 20th, from 9:30 at ABF Stockholm, Sväeavägen 41, Sandlersalen,
and on December 21st, from 12:00 at our venue, Identitet, Odengatan 15.

As he delves deeper into his family's past, Paul discovers a connection to Slavic mythology and an old curse that vaguely reminds him of something from the distant past, perhaps even from his childhood. The family is hiding a terrible secret - and that secret leads to a long-standing pact with the dark god Veles. As he investigates further, Paul begins to question everything he knows about himself. Each new truth leads him into a vortex of nightmare, where his family's decisions echo through generations. MUDBRICK is a disturbing story about secrets that drag you into the past, forgotten memories, and a curse that never ends.

Last Round Guys is an action comedy that intertwines two stories. In the first story, celebrities hilariously try to get to the premiere of a movie that has become the talk of the town. The second story is a film within a film, a humorous parody of action heroes saving the world, and the main characters fight against the “bad guys” by getting into trouble and escaping from it, in exciting action scenes in the snow, in the water and in the air.
