Coffee is like the tambura. In every region of Sudan, it has its own rituals, songs, and rhythms. We want to document coffee from every region– Kassala, Gedaref, Darfur, the Nile. A new series joining “Sounds of Peace.”

قبل الحرب، صوّرنا تجربة عن قهوة الشارع في الخرطوم. امرأة على الرصيف، تحمص، تطحن، تصب. لا صوت غير الأصداء . لم ننشره حينها. اليوم ننشره كتذكرة: طقوسنا لا تموت بسهولة.

Before the war, we filmed an experiment about street coffee in Khartoum. A woman on the sidewalk roasts, grinds, and pours. No sound but the echoes. We didn't publish it then. Today we publish it as a reminder: our rituals don't die easily.

كنا صامتين لفترة طويلة لكن الصمت ليس غياباً. انتقلنا من الخرطوم إلى البحر الأحمر. حملنا ذاكرتنا، إيماننا بأن الفن لا يزال يتنفس. STEP لا تزال هنا. نستمع. نسجل. ننتمي.

We were silent for a long time but silence is not absence. We moved from Khartoum to the Red Sea. We carried our memory, our belief that art still breathes. STEP is still here. Listening. Recording. Belonging.
