I know I said I want to finish at least 1 Illustration for my book a week, but I am still more burned out than I would like to admit, and have a lot of other stuff going on right now, so I can't draw as much as I'd like.

In other news: The next Illustration is done, and I will upload it on my website tomorrow, alongside another excerpt :)

The book that I've been working on since 2011 is finally finished 🥳

Now I'm working on illustrating it, and getting an Editor on board.

Morgan and Arizias walked to the lounge. Addy froze for a second. The Designer took advantage of this second, bent down and reached for her face. “You are not exactly Fae, are you dear?” Their non-existing face leaned closer towards Addys

“I – I am,” Addy replied. “For the most part.”

“Hmmm… Mortal creature, I'm afraid your beating heart betrays you. Tell me dear, what are you so afraid of?”

“N- Nothing.”

The Designer chuckled. “How interesting. I have never met a half-Fae before. May I take a look?”

“At what?”

“You, my dear. You are such an interesting creature.”

“I... I don’t mind as long as you don’t hurt me.”

“I would not dare,” the Designer replied smoothly. With a quick motion and the sound of wings cutting through air, the large feathers that formed the Designer’s dress lifted like the tail of a peacock, revealing the inner side of the feathers to be covered with functioning eyes. Six more long arms were hidden there as well. One of which reached for Addy’s face; another for Addy’s hip, another for her arm, and the others for her head and back. “You feel so soft,” the Designer murmured brushing over Addy’s cheek. “Despite your hard life.”

“H- How do you know?”

“I know many things,” the Designer replied. “I can see them.” The many eyes redirected their gaze at Addy, blinking sporadically. "All of them."

'Roses beneath concrete'

I did not spend much time of my life in a safe environment, so I grew a shell to hide my true personality. To protect myself. Just like a layer of concrete.

Now as an Adult I try to get rid of this concrete, but this requires hard work. I've lived with this layer for so long, whenever I looked into the mirror, I only saw the concrete, not the roses beneath. Truth be told, I did not know there were any roses to begin with.

And I still see the concrete now. Every morning, whenever I look into a mirror. But now it has cracks. They will grow, and the roses beneath do as well. Their thorns scratch the surface. Slowly and softly, but without ever fully stopping.

I imagine it will still take a while to get rid of all the concrete. But until then, I will watch, and celebrate every crumb of concrete that falls off.
