Welcoming talented author LaTasha aka “Tasha P” Perkins to ZuZu Land Publishing🍾🎉 Sooo excited and honored to be publishing Volume 1 of her beautiful poetry collection composed of letters in truth and healing of the heart.

“Tasha” or “TP” as her family and friends call her, is a poet, writer, and author of the new poetry volume “Dear Heart, Breathe Again” set to release Fall 2021, was previously the columnist of TP’s “No Limit Zone”, a column with Candice Nicole’s “Women Who Hustle.”  This monthly newsletter offered words of encouragement and inspiration for its readers. Perkins was also a contributing writer with “She Wins Society” (formerly The Women By Choice Network) blog.

She is a graduate of Delaware State University where she earned her Master’s degree in Sport Administration. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Virginia State University.

It is very important during these straining times, to teach small children the importance of hygiene as they transition back to face to face classrooms. Washing your hands, sitting/standing 6ft apart and avoiding crowds have been proven to slow the spread.

The CDC reported this following week that the delta variant is more likely to be spread to children through adult members in their households, it is recommended that washing hands with children before, during and after activities DO slow down the spread of illnesses in households.

Happy Sunday Readers and Writers📚

Today, continuing with our “front matter” theme for Summer 2021 at ZuZu Land Publishing, we discuss “The Dedication” page. Simple but important!

Usually appearing right before the body matter of your book, at times before the epigraph, it is a small statement to honor a person/persons that has inspired you to write your book! When I am writing, I usually dedicate my published works; books, essays, projects, public statements- to my Grandmother ZuZu, who is the inspiration for ZuZu Land Publishing, or to my future readers.

Sometimes, your dedication can honor your readers, as mentioned above, such as, “For Everyone” or “Pass this book along.”

Your dedication page should not be long, just a few words or a sentence or two. It is meant to be short and sweet, so make it good! Your dedication page will make you more relatable and personalize your work for your readers, making you “human.”

As we say in the writing world... “write your book as if you are writing a letter to a friend”

Summer 2021, ZuZu Land has been focusing on the front matter of your book. Today we discuss “The Prologue” page.

What’s special about the Prologue, is it gives the author a chance to introduce the main character of their book and bring them to LIFE! The Who, Where and Why of this main character’s role throughout the body matter.

Typically always used in Non-Fiction in accordance with biographies or subject focus, but also often used in fiction novels and chapter books.

The Prologue can be found usually right after the “Introduction” page in non-fiction works, and usually within the front cover flap of most fictional novels. Swipe right ➡️to take a look!

It is time to talk copyrights and fair use! Not as scary as it may seem, but also not as simple as some may think.

There are 2 categories that are often discussed when copyrights are involved; Fact or Fictional/Creative? Which one constitutes “fair use” without permissions?

Which “genre” is protected the most under copyright laws and fair use?

I’ll reveal the answer after 5 predictions in the comments!

Oh! By the way I am not a lawyer, in cases of contract signing or non-exclusive permissions you should always seek advisement from your publishing house or publishing lawyer if unsure.

Hey Readers! 📚

Delta Variant of the Coronavirus is not something to be ignored, research is still being collected on the strength and dangers of the new variant, which has shown to be 50% stronger than the first variant.

Whether or not you choose the vaccine or chose to live a healthy, sanitized-aware life, it is important children know the importance of hygiene, staying safe and mental awareness while this new research is underway.

Most School Districts will be fully open this upcoming fall semester and this series is a great way to open up the discussion with students and parents returning. The Coronavirus Series, book 1 and book 2 tackles all aspects of new viruses/variants and germs, simply by introducing hygiene and cleanliness to children in a fun, engaging way. Book 2 introduces bereavement and struggles at home children may face during hybrid or virtual learning and is available on Audible for easy listening.🎧
