🌺 Native Lens Film Festival Update 🌺

We are proud to share that our Co-Founder, Georgianna Lepping, is representing us at the Women Deliver Conference in Narm (Melbourne), Australia.

The Women Deliver Conference is one of the world’s leading global gatherings focused on advancing gender equality and amplifying the voices of women and girls. It brings together advocates, storytellers, policymakers, and creatives to push for real change across sectors.

For us at Native Lens Film Festival, this is deeply connected to the work we do. Film and media are powerful tools for shaping narratives and it is critical that women, especially indigenous and Pacific women, are not just included, but leading these stories.

Georgianna’s Gianna M Lepping presence at this space reflects our ongoing commitment to elevating women’s voices in storytelling, creating platforms for authentic representation, and ensuring our stories are told by us, for us.

We look forward to the knowledge, connections, and inspiration she will bring back to continue strengthening our creative community here in the Solomon Islands and beyond.

It is with a heavy heart that we learn of the passing away of one of the first young participants of Native Lens Film Festival's first Video storytelling workshop in Malaita Province in 2024. Young Mirriam Maetofea who passed away from an illness.
Ms Mirriam Maetofea was a young energetic and passionate advocate for culture and positive activities for young people, she encourages her peers to keep on participating in engaging activities in their communities.
She is a young storyteller and during her short lifetime on earth she has told that story to keep on going when you still have life in you and don't waste it. 🕊️
Our deepest condolences to the Maetofea family of Ambu and around Malaita in this time of grief. May the Lord comfort you all. May late Mirriam rests in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Kaloka Youth Media Training 🇸🇧🙌

A total of 25 young people gathered to take part in the intensive one-day training facilitated by Native Lens Film Festival (NLFF). The training covered the basics of media, communication and advocacy, online safety and cybersecurity, filming and video editing, creating reels for advocacy, photography and framing, as well as social media management and digital marketing.

Karl Saliga, Chairman of the Isabel Youth Forum, officially opened the Kaloka Youth Media Training this morning at Pagoda.
At the end of the training, the participants shot and edited a reel summary of the day, which was shared to the provinces Youth forum page. All participants were also awarded a certificate for their participation and learning.

NLFF is pleased to kick off its first media and film training for the year. In 2026, NLFF is focusing its lens on community outreach bringing media for advocacy, awareness, and storytelling to our youth and communities.

We acknowledge the Isabel Province Kaloka Youth leaders for taking the initiative to equip young people with these important skills and knowledge. To Vincent Hiri and the powerful team, and to the amazing sponsors. We look forward to continuing to mentor them in their media and storytelling journeys.

The training was facilitated by Georgianna. Special thanks also to our NLFF Support, Robert for assisting throughout the day. NLFF would also like to thank Clay Hiro for reaching out to us, and your dedicated team for trusting us to deliver this training.

As we come to the close of 2025, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has supported Native Lens Film Festival throughout the year. Your encouragement, your presence, and your love for storytelling keep us going.

It is our joy and honour to bring films from across our region and especially the voices of our own local storytellers to the screen on our shores. Every story shared, every audience moved, reminds us why we do what we do.

From all of us at Native Lens Film Festival, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026. May God bless us all, and may we reflect on the greatest gift ever given to mankind, JESUS.

With gratitude and hope for the year ahead. 🎬✨
