Among them was Saudi filmmaker Ali Kalthami, who shared his passion and rich artistic perspective on filmmaking.

On the sidelines of the last edition of the , and under the , we hosted a select group of guests as part of the ‘Souk Talks’ program. They shared their perspectives on several current industry topics, including film market needs and growth opportunities, the formula of trending content, and industry challenges in light of the rise of streaming platforms and social media channels.

Among them was Egyptian star Mai Omar, who spoke to us about the role of film festivals in elevating the horizons of both audiences and filmmakers, fostering cultural exchange between nations, and the vital importance of working and collaborating with the youth.

‎شارك في الجلسة باسل العلولا، الرئيس التنفيذي لقطاع الأعمال في الصندوق الثقافي، وشاه جهان ميرزا، رئيس إدارة الأصول في السعودي الفرنسي كابيتال، وأدارت الحوار رشا الإمام، المؤسسة والرئيسة التنفيذية لشركة الجمل الاصفر.

On the sidelines of the 6th edition of , hosted “Investing in the Future of the Film Industry” as part of its Souk Talks program, exploring the growing investment opportunities within Saudi Arabia’s film sector and the Cultural Development Fund’s role in pioneering new financial models to attract private capital, strengthen market confidence, and help build a sustainable film economy in the Kingdom.

The session featured Basil Al Alola, CDF Chief Business Officer, and Shahjahan Mirza, Head of Asset Management at Saudi Fransi Capital, in conversation moderated by Rasha AlEmam, Founder and CEO of Yellow Camel KSA.

‎اختيرت الأفلام للمشاركة ضمن برنامج «سنتر بيس»، مجسدةً تنوع الأصوات والقصص السينمائية التي تدعمها المؤسسة من خلال صندوق البحر الأحمر وسوق البحر الأحمر:

‎• «بنيمانا» للمخرجة ماري-كليمنتين دوسابيجامبو — بدعم من صندوق البحر الأحمر وسوق البحر الأحمر

Seven Red Sea Film Foundation-supported films are heading to the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. 🎬

Selected for TIFF’s Centrepiece programme, the films reflect the distinctive voices and stories championed through the Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Souk:

• A Girl Unknown, directed by Zou Jing — Red Sea Souk
• Ben’Imana, directed by Marie-Clementine Dusabejambo — Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Souk
• Conversation with the Sea, directed by Muayad Alayan — Red Sea Fund
• Four Seasons in Java, directed by Kamila Andini — Red Sea Fund
• Soumsoum, the Night of the Stars, directed by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun — Red Sea Fund
• The Violinist, directed by Ervin Han and Raul Garcia — Red Sea Fund
• We Are All Strangers, directed by Anthony Chen — Red Sea Fund

على هامش الدورة 79 من مهرجان كان السينمائي، التقينا بالمخرجة المغربية ليلى المراكشي، إحدى المكرّمات في مبادرة: “المرأة في السينما” التي تستضيفها مؤسسة البحر الأحمر السينمائي.

وفي اللقاء، أعربت ليلى عن امتنانها للتكريم، كما أشادت بأهمية القصص القادمة من العالم العربي ودور المؤسسة في دعم المرأة في السينما.


On the sidelines of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, we met with Moroccan director Laïla Marrakchi—one of the honorees of the ‘Women in Cinema’ initiative, hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation.
During our meeting, Laila expressed her gratitude for the honor, while praising the vital importance of stories coming out of the Arab world and the Foundation’s role in supporting women in cinema.

وفي اللقاء، شاركتنا كاميلا سعادتها بالتكريم وحدّثتنا عن دور المؤسسة في تمكينها ودعم رحلتها كصانعة أفلام.
