A Journey of Remembrance

Honoring the past to build a brighter future. On the 18th of April 2026, the collective joined the Walk to Remember, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial to pay our deepest respects during the 32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

As artists and creators, we believe in the power of memory as a foundation for unity and renewal. We were humbled to honor the victims laid to rest here, standing together in a moment of silence, reflection, and a shared commitment to Never Again.

Through art and community, we continue to preserve our history and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit. 🕯️🇷🇼

The Language of Remembrance

"To remember is to ensure it never happens again." 🕯️🇷🇼

As Rwanda commemorates the genocide against the Tutsi, Inkingi Arts Space presents a collection of visual testimonies. These works are more than paintings on canvas; they are vessels of memory and a bridge from the darkness of 1994 to the light of a transformed Rwanda.

Through diverse techniques and deep symbolism, these artists confront our history:

-The reality: captures the raw, physical layering of grief in In the Deep Sorrow( 7th slide), while explores the fragility of existence in Genocide ( 4th slide) and the psychological weight of trauma in Broken Brain ( 6th slide).

-The Metaphor: reflects on the stillness of time in Long Ago ( 5th slide), while the Urwacu (1st slide) series by Kenny Byishimo and honors the land that holds our stories.

-The Future: offers a path forward through Hope Again ( 2nd slide) and the resolute promise of Never Again (3rd slide).

These paintings do not ask for pity; they demand reflection. They invite the global community to witness the cost of hate and the indomitable power of resilience.

Join us in this act of witness.

Inkingi Arts Space extends its deepest gratitude to RadioTV10 for the opportunity to share these powerful visual narratives with a global audience.

During this solemn period of Kwibuka, as we commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, art serves as a vital bridge between memory and healing. By providing a platform for these works, RadioTV10 helps amplify the messages of resilience, grief, and the enduring hope that defines our community's journey.

These paintings are more than just canvas and pigment; they are a tribute to those we lost and a testament to the strength of those who remain. Thank you for helping us ensure that these stories are told and that we continue to Remember, Unite, and Renew.
