15 years ago, the St Petersburg Ballet Theater made its debut at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées.

October 17, 2007 on the stage of the legendary Parisian theater SPBT presented P. Tchaikovsky's ballet "Swan Lake" with Irina Kolesnikova in the main role. Dmitry Akulinin danced Prince Siegfried, Dimchik Saykeev danced the role of Rothbart, Viatcheslav Sunegin danced the Jester, Yulia Petrova, Asiya Ogannesyan and Evgeny Korsakov performed Pas de trios.

After this debut, SPBT became a regular visitor at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, annually presenting masterpieces of world classical choreography to the Parisian public.

25 years ago, from 8 to 11 October 1997, we made our first tour in Northern Ireland on stage at the wonderful Belfast Opera House. The tour program included two ballets Giselle and Don Quixote. SPBT gave 7 performances, which were accompanied by a symphony orchestra conducted by Stanislav Gorkovenko.

The tour opened on October 8 with the ballet Giselle with guest soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Irina Chistyakova (Giselle) and Igor Petrov (Count Albrecht). The role of the forester Hans was played by Alexander Kuznetsov, the role of Mirta was played by Elena Alekseeva, the peasant pas de deux was danced by Clara Dovjik and Sergey Konstantinov.

The SPBT was warmly welcomed by both the audience and the press. On the 9 Oct 1997, The Belfast Telegraph published a review of Giselle by critic Rathcol titled "Classic ballet performed the way it was intended."

On 13 October 1997, The Irish Times critic, Carolyn Swift wrote: "Truly memorable performance of a great classic."

The tours were prepared by teachers Yuri Gumba and Maria Likhacheva.

Dear fans of Russian ballet,

So 2022 has gone down in story, becoming another, for the third year in a row, very difficult one for SPBT. Another year without international tours, without our performances in front of our beloved audience, another year of serious obstacles and challenges of incredible complexity.

But we believe that in 2023 the SPBT will return to its audience living on six continents, who we love and value, regardless of their nationality and citizenship and who have been supporting us for more than a quarter of a century!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you! May it be better and kinder than the previous ones. We wish you happiness and prosperity, health and success and most importantly - peace on our planet!

May 26, 1997. Exactly a quarter of a century ago. The St Petersburg Ballet Theater (SPBT) for the first time presented to the public the masterpiece of P.I. Tchaikovsky, "Swan Lake".

The premiere took place in St Petersburg. 25 years have passed. We just cannot believe it! The staging was carried out by the teachers of the company Yu.Ya. Gumba and S.V. Efremova.

Over the years, the ballet has been presented by SPBT on six continents, on the best stages of the world such as the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the London Coliseum and the Royal Albert Hall, the National Theater in Taipei, the Princess Theater in Melbourne, the Lyric Theater in Sydney and many others.

9-го февраля не стало Юрия Яковлевича Гумбы. Наши искренние соболезнования родным и близким!

Юрий Яковлевич был педагогом-репетитором в Санкт-Петербургском Театре Балета с момента его основания в 1994 году и до 2007 года, когда перешёл на работу в Михайловский театр. В SPBT на его плечах лежала огромная нагрузка, которая не ограничивалась исключительно репетиционным процессом. Он принимал активное участие в создании редакций нескольких балетов, давая свои идеи для либретто, придумывая хореографию для новых номеров.

Он не знал, что такое нормированный рабочий день. Перед премьерой очередного спектакля мог находиться в театре до утра, проверяя готовность сценического оформления. Он был настоящим творческим человеком, искренно любящим дело, которым занимался.

Говорят, что незаменимых не бывает. Наверное, это так, но только не в отношении Юрия Гумбы. И его возвращение в компанию в 2013 году это ещё раз ярко продемонстрировало.

Юрий Яковлевич Гумба навсегда останется в нашей памяти, как человек, очень много сделавший для становления Санкт-Петербургского Театр Балета, как человек, ставший соавтором успеха SPBT и многих его достижений.

Another success in Dublin – due to huge demand an extra show was added on 3 April at 1.30 pm.

There are now 7 Swan Lake shows scheduled at the magnificent Bord Gais Energy Theatre.

On the opening night on 29 March the role of the Odette/Odile will be performed by prima ballerina Irina Kolesnikova. Irina will be partnered with Alexander Volchkov, principal dancer with Bolshoi.
