Petersburg Polytechnic University was founded in 2002 by Igor Solovyev. The members of the choir are students and graduates; the majority of whom do not have any musical education. Traditionally, "Polyhymnia" takes part in all areas of university's life, from the meeting freshmen on the Day of Knowledge and students' performances at the Winter Ball and ending with the help in international activities of the university in Europe. During its existence, the choir team successfully performed at the best venues of St. Petersburg and visited many cities - not only Russian, but also European. The collection of the choir consists of about 80 diplomas of different festivals and competitions, including two silver diplomas of the 27th International Choral Competition "PRAGA-CANTAT", gold and silver diplomas of the International Festival Of Advent And Christmas Music 2014 in Bratislava, Slovakia and gold and silver diplomas of 17th Budapest International Choir Competition and Festival. The main repertoire of the choir is very different – it contains not only folk, spiritual and classical music, but also unusual arrangements of contemporary compositions and songs. Our conductor is Ivan Chekodanov. Ivan graduated from Glinka Choir College at Saint Petersburg and entered St. Petersburg State Conservatory to Faculty of Choral conducting in 2014.
