They say silence is a polite form of distance,
that ignoring someone
is hurting them without leaving a trace.
That what is yours will come back anyway,
even if you stop calling it,
and what does not belong to you
will not stay,
even if you hold it tight.
They say the value of things
can only be understood when they are gone.
But maybe that's not the case.
Maybe you already knew,
but you believed it was eternal.
Be patient, they repeat.
Every disappointment has its time to fade away,
every wound learns to be silent.
No matter how safe you feel:
even what seems untouchable
bears marks,
learns to bend.
And yes, life takes long roads,
gets lost, returns, changes direction.
But those who truly love you
don't speed ahead on their own.
They wait.
They walk alongside you.
They go around with you.
